Non-commissioned Officers Sugormin

The Non-commissioned Officers Sugormin (下士官スゴーミン, Kashikan Sugōmin^?) are the officers who lead the Gormin to battle and support the Action Commanders.

Characteristics

Sugormin are silver-blue coloured grunts, more bulkier than a Gormin and slightly smaller than an Action Commander. Sugormin normally operate in trios. Their large arms are fitted with laser cannons which prove devastating in city bombardments as a giant. After becoming giant, they can transform into jet fighter configurations that link up into a hovercraft for a Action Commander to ride on. Sugormin also act as Captains of the many ships in the Zangyack Space Armada. Along with Gormin, when not fighting, they take part in activities on their ships such as Card Games. History

The Sugormin first appeared on Earth in the Great Legend War. There, they led hundreds of Gormin into battle against the past 34 Super Sentai teams. The Sentai teams put up a good fight and the Zangyack forces took a hard beating, but the Sentai's leader, AkaRanger, noticed the fleet moving towards them, he gathered all the Rangers together and gave them the order to sacrifice their powers to wipe out the first invasion's armada. Soon, with the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger's continued presence on Earth hindering Zangyack's efforts to conquer the planet, fights with giant Sugormin trios became everyday events. Little Spy Tactics

When Deratsueigar grew, rather than the usual three Sugormin, dozens of giant Sugormin appear, though the team managed to stop them with the new formation, ShinkenGokaiOh. The Guaranteed Showy Samurai

In a Zangyack plot headed by Action Commander Regaeru, his reversal beam would be used to switch the minds of world leaders with those of Sugormin. With the Sugormin in their bodies, they would use the power of the world leaders to hand over Earth to Zangyack. This plan was foiled by the Gokaigers. A More Than Usual Gokai Change

The Hyper Battle DVD, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Let's Do This Goldenly! Roughly! 36 Round Gokai Change!! features a hybrid form of Barizorg and Sugormin called Karizorg (カリゾーグ, Karizōgu^?). He is destroyed by Gokai Red in Gold Mode.

Portrayal

Across Gokaiger, the various Sugormin were voiced by several voice actors, including Yoshimitsu Shimoyama (下山 吉光, Shimoyama Yoshimitsu^?, 1), Kenichiro Matsuda (松田 健一郎, Matsuda Ken'ichirō^?, 10), Yasuaki Takumi (内匠 靖明, Takumi Yasuaki^?, 10), Kensuke Tamura (田村 健亮, Tamura Kensuke^?, 12), and Ibuki (勇吹輝, Ibuki^? 34). An unknown amount of suit actors also worked as Sugormin, one of them being Keizo Yabe (矢部 敬三, Yabe Keizō^?).

Notes

• "Sugoomin" comes from "sugomi", the verb form of "sugomu", aptly "to threaten".
• The enlarged Sugormins in Fighter Plane Mode greatly ressemble Metang from the Pokèmon series.
