The End of Time is the three-part season finale episode and thirty-eighth to fortieth episodes of Power Rangers Time Force.

Synopsis[]

Part 1[]

As Ransik prepares to attack Silver HillsAlex orders the Time Force Rangers to return to the future. The crystals are causing disruptions and if they don't leave they might not be able to return to their own time. He tells them Wes has to stay in his own time. The Rangers refuse, and try to prevent the attack. Wes knows his friends can't stay in the present, and has a plan to send them back to their own time. Meanwhile, Nadira starts to see human life in a positive way after she and Trip help a pregnant woman give birth.

Part 2[]

Wes sends the team back to the future. Now it's up to Wes and Eric to resolve their issues, and defend the city. In the future, the Rangers discover what happened to the city and their friend. They're ordered to have their minds erased of their adventures in the past so they can adjust back to their lives in their own time. They're not willing to give up their memories, and decide to go back to help their friend.

Part 3[]

When the four Time Force Officers return from the future to assist Wes, Doomtron is defeated, destroying the brainwashed Frax along with it. Ransik ignores Nadira's pleas, and takes on the Time Force Rangers personally. During his rage against them, he accidentally strikes out against his daughter, and a baby she saved. This snaps Ransik out of his vengeance-filled state of mind, and he willingly gives up to Time Force. With all the mutants now captured, Jen and the gang return to the year 3000. She and Wes reluctantly part ways, their relationship coming to a premature end. In the end, Wes agrees to his father's wishes of his becoming co-commander of the Silver Guardians (alongside Eric, of course), though for nonprofit work only.

Plot[]

Part 1[]

Ransik tells the Cyclobots to find the Rangers and to capture Frax. At the same time, Alex tells the Rangers that the future has been shifted and that they must return immediately, as they'll die in the coming final battle if they stay in the present. Jen was shocked and confused about it, and Katie thinks that their must be a way to stop it, but Alex said there’s no other way to stop it. Alex states that he is sending a time ship to pick up and return the four Time Force agents to the future. However Wes will be unable to go with them, due to him not being from the year 3000, and Alex voices his regret that Wes's future can't be changed.

That night, Wes has a nightmare about his friends being sucked into a time hole. When he wakes up he talks with his friends who declare their intention to stay; they beat destiny once and they can do it again. While looking for Frax, Nadira spots a boutique and decides to do a little "shopping". When she takes the staff and customers hostage, Trip arrives and they start fighting, but the fight is cut short when they have to help a pregnant customer is in labor. When the woman's baby, a little girl is born, the event shows Nadira the spirit of Humans.

Gluto finds the location where Frax is. Frax finishes his latest creation Doomtron, but is captured by Ransik. Upon seeing Doomtron, Ransik plans to make one more use of Frax. Alex sees the time ship and is shocked that Jen and the others hadn’t left. He contacts Jen and she tells Alex that she and the others intend to remain, and Alex tells her that when the time holes open he won't be able to send the Megazords from the future to help and orders her to return, but she reluctantly cuts him off and shut off the screen and cries. The Rangers look over the time ship, where Wes takes the chance to find out how the auto-pilot works.

While imprisoned, Nadira asks Frax why humans and mutant hate each other. He taunts her by explaining how Ransik ruined his life and claims she's a spoiled brat who will never understand anything. The Cyclobots appear to take Frax away. As he struggles, Nadira apologizes to Frax for what Ransik did to him and addresses him by his real name, Dr. Ferricks. He stops and Ferricks reappears seeing there's good in her. Frax apologizes for his wrongful assumption of Nadira and fights back. He urges her to break the cycle of hatred between humans and mutants, while being taken away.

Frax is brainwashed and attacks the city with Doomtron as Doomtron attacks the time holes begin to open. The Silver Guardians work to get the civilians to safety, while Eric morphs and summons the Q-Rex to fight Doomtron. However, the Trizyrium crystal powering the Q-Rex reacts with the one powering Doomtron causing the time holes to grow bigger more quickly.

The Rangers, now unable to summon their Zords, try to get Eric to call off the Q-Rex. However, he refuses since that would leave Doomtron free to destroy the city. As the Q-Rex and Doomtron fight, Wes tells the Rangers he has an idea to use the time ship. However, once they reach it, Wes activates the auto pilot, takes the key and traps the Rangers and Circuit in the time ship, telling them he intends to ensure their safety by sending them back to the year 3000.

Part 2[]

Despite the desperate protests of his friends, Wes allows the time ship to leave and return to the future before heading back to the city. The battle continues as Doomtron knocks the Q-Rex out cold. Eric is also injured, and climbs out of the rubble in bad shape. A group of Cyclobots shows up to finish Eric off. Wes appears and saves Eric, then drags him to safety. As the two hide out, Wes has a little chat with Eric about what it means to be a Power Ranger.

The other four Rangers wake up to find themselves back in the year 3000, as Alex comes in happy to see them return. As the Rangers ask what happened to Wes and the year 2001, Alex tells them that Wes died saving the city (much to the team’s shock and Jen’s devastation), and that they will need to have their memories of the past wiped.

When a Cyclobot discovers that Wes and Eric are in the Clock Tower, Ransik shows up for a raid. As Wes and Eric try to regroup, Wes admits he has no way of knowing if his friends are all right. The brief peace is shattered when a swarm of Cyclobots bust in. Wes and Eric try to fight them off, but the sheer numbers force them back. Wes finds the Electro Booster and he sets it to self destruct, destroying the tower and several Cyclobots as well. The two leap out, smashing through the clock face, and morph just in time to be caught by the Strata Cycle and the Time Force Eagle.

Mr. Collins wanders the city in ruins, looking for his son. When he finds him, the two hug. A Cyclobot arises and takes aim at the father and son. Eric jumps in the way and takes the blast, saving Wes and his father. Badly wounded, Eric gives Wes the Quantum Morpher, along with deactivating the voice recognition, so he can use the Quantum Defender. Wes bravely storms into battle. A lone Ranger against hundreds of Cyclobots.

Jen and the others were in a room ready for memory adaptation. They were upset that they have to have their memories erased. Alex comes in and takes them to another room as the four Rangers step into the memory acclimation machines, as they recall their time with Wes. However, just before Alex was about to start the memory adaptation, Jen storms out of the machine, as do the others. They decide to go back and help Wes. Alex at first, refuses, but Jen didn’t care and tells him how they can live their lives knowing it cost Wes, as Alex was surprised and realized that not only did Jen stood up to him for the first time, but also realized that she loves Wes more than him. Having enough, Jen gives Alex back the engagement ring, as a heartbroken Alex lets them go and tells them to use the Megazord in Jet Mode to go back to which Jen thanks him as Alex nods back to her. The Rangers race to the dock to help their friend and take control of their destinies.

Part 3[]

Wes continues his struggle against hundreds of Cyclobots. Doomtron and the vortexes continue taking their toll on the city. The Rangers board the Time Force Megazord, and take off to the past. The jet enters the past, and knocks Doomtron out with a tornado. The Rangers head for the heart of the destruction to help Wes. A few high flying moves and mega sized blasts later, and the Cyclobots are reduced to a junk pile. Wes asks the Rangers why they came back to help him. They've decided to make their own destiny, and help him fight to save the city.

At the Cryo Prison, Ransik gets ready to head out and oversee the battle. Nadira begs him to stop the fighting, but Ransik isn't having it. Gluto has had enough excitement, so the coward freezes himself back into a containment unit.

Trip modifies the Quantum Defender. Wes must use it on the Q-Rex to neutralize its Trizyrium crystal. Doomtron is back on its feet and renews its assault on the city. As the Time Force Megazord finds itself outmatched by Doomtron, Wes zaps the Q-Rex and successfully converts the Yellow Trizyrium crystal into a blue one. Using the power boost, the Q-Rex finishes off Doomtron with an immense blast, with Wes standing atop. The vortexes in the sky disappear.

In the wreckage of Doomtron, Frax makes his last face, and falls apart in front of Ransik and Nadira (who is lamenting Frax's destruction). Nadira tries again to make Ransik stop the hate, but he scolds her for mourning over Frax, and knocks her down. Nadira runs to the aide of an abandoned baby, a little boy. Scared and confused, she takes him and hides out.

The Rangers track down Ransik and corner him. With authority, Jen tells him he's under arrest and has no one left to fight for him. Ransik won't go without a struggle. He fights with fierce determination and brutalizes the entire team. Wes powers up the Battle Warrior armor and goes one on one. In a huge explosion, Wes hits the ground, and powers down. And Ransik emerges in a haze, with his armor blown off, revealing a disfigured face with a misplaced eye. A battered Jen stands up to Ransik. She vows to take him in, and taunts Ransik into chasing her. Ransik chases Jen into a factory. When he spots some movement, he unleashes a powerful blast at it. After being blasted by Jen, Ransik discovers, to his horror, that he blasted Nadira, still holding the baby in her arms. Nadira asks Ransik if the baby is okay, and upon looking says that the child is unharmed. Nadira then asks Ransik how he can hate something as beautiful as a human baby. Ransik realizes that his heart had been filled with hatred towards humanity for so long and that it nearly cost him the one who he truly loves. Nadira is touched by Ransik's love for her and convinces him that mutants can love too and they're not so different from humans after all. Realizing that Nadira's right, and how close he had come to losing her, Ransik hands the baby to Katie and turns himself in.

Later, at the Time Ship, Wes, Mr. Collins, Eric, and the Silver Guardians see off the other four Rangers as they prepare to return to the year 3000. Wes says goodbye to Lucas, Katie, Trip and Circuit, and finally Jen. Jen gives Wes her Time Force Badge and tells him to never forget her. Jen almost leaves before turning around and tearfully hugging Wes. Jen and Wes finally confess there feelings for each other by saying "I love you" to each other. Jen leaves with the others as the Time Ship returns to the future. Mr. Collins then offers Wes the position of leader of the Silver Guardians, which will now protect the entire city free of charge. Wes accepts his father's offer, but only if Eric is allowed to serve as his partner. Mr. Collins agrees and states that it would've been his choice as well. Wes holds up Jen's badge and tells the others that he thinks the future looks pretty bright.

Cast[]

VHS/DVD Release[]

Errors[]

  • Gluto, before freezing himself, had an echo in his voice that he never had before.
  • Alex seems to have forgotten that everyone makes their own destiny as Wes had taught him episodes ago.
  • Alex said Wes will die, but Alex is shown alive and he would have cease to exist.
  • Time Force was not able to send the Time Force Megazord back to fight Doomtron in Part I due to the time holes, however the Time Force Megazord Jet Mode was able to go back in Part 2 despite the holes still being present.
  • During the Cyclobots battle in Part III, Lucas high kicks at a Cyclobot but does not make contact and yet it falls down anyway.
  • One of the shots of Wes shooting the Q-Rex in Part III has DV Defender on part of his visor which is the Timeranger name of the Quantum Defender.
  • In various shots, vehicles can be seen moving around in the background.

Notes[]

  • Originally, Eric was going to die in this episode like his Sentai counterpart. But because of higher management was unsatisfied with the original ending and no Ranger had ever been killed off on a permanent basis, it was instead changed to him being wounded and handing Wes his Quantum Morpher.
  • Ransik is the only villain to surrender himself in Power Rangers history as well also one of the few villains the Rangers never defeated in straight combat without them being able to overpower him eventually.
  • Eric and Wes are the only Rangers to appear morphed in Part 2.
  • Part 2 marks the final appearance of Alex. He is last seen seeing the Rangers off to the past and told them to use the Megazord in Jet Mode. This also officially marks the end of Alex and Jen's relationship as she gives back the ring to him.
  • The balcony where Ransik rallies his Cyclobot army to find Frax in Part 1 is the same one where Astronema addressed her Quantron army for the final battle in Countdown to Destruction.
  • Time Force's computer system sounds very similar to D.E.C.A.
  • After the final scene in Part 3, there is a promo clip for Power Rangers Wild Force, with a song that was originally intended to be the series theme song, but was changed due to rights issues when the Power Rangers franchise was sold to Disney. This clip has been kept intact on the Time Force DVDs from the 20th Anniversary Legacy Set and the Seasons 8-12 DVD set released by Shout! Factory and in the eye catches on Fox Kids.
  • Jen was originally going to stay with Wes in 2001.
  • Unlike his Sentai counterpart, Wes does not lose his powers after the rest of their respective teams return to the future.
  • This is the last season finale to air on Fox Kids.
  • This is the last episode to have a cold open until Power Rangers Samurai.
  • It is revealed in the Wild Force episode Reinforcements from the Future that despite her crimes, Lucas managed to get it set up so that Nadira was not in serious trouble when she returned to the future. Indeed, she is shown a free woman taking care of kids, presumably stemming from the love she developed for kids in this episode. She is also shown to possibly be in a relationship with Lucas.
  • In Reinforcements from the Future, following this episode, Ransik is imprisoned on an island, but not cryofrozen as he was to be before. Nadira, thanks to the efforts of Lucas, stayed out of serious trouble and is a free woman. What happened to Gluto, if he was ever recovered from the prison in the forest, is unrevealed. Reinforcements from the Future also shows Ransik as genuinely remorseful and he nearly sacrifices himself to destroy the Mut-Orgs, an enemy he himself created. His efforts render him fully human and he sees the Rangers as his friends by that point. Jen also lets go of her hatred towards him.
  • Even though it was never used, Wes hypothetically had the power to morph into the Quantum Ranger and could use the Mega Battle Armor. He did however use the Quantum Defender and control the Q-Rex.
  • The Time Force Rangers would later return to team up with the Wild Force Rangers in Reinforcements from the Future while Wes and Eric reappear in Forever Red and Wes reappears in Legendary Battle, Outfoxed as a cloaked figure along with Gemma and Koda, Dimensions in Danger and cameo in The Poisy Show.
  • Part 2 marks the only time that Eric enters the top of the Clock Tower.
  • This is the final time that the original Silver Guardians SUVs are used. It is unknown why they were not used in Reinforcements From the Future. Instead, they would use Chevy Trailblazers. Its possible they simply changed vehicle types.
  • Eric does not appear morphed in Part 3 due to handing over his Quantum Morpher to Wes in the previous episode.
  • During the final scene, both Wes and Eric are shown wearing their respective Morphers. This means that in the time gap between this scene and the previous one, Eric had been given back the Quantum Morpher upon recovering and was in control of both his powers and the Quantasaurus Rex once again.
  • Part 3 was the last episode to credit Haim Saban (until Super Megaforce in 2014) and Shuki Levy as executive producers.
  • Jen and Wes seemingly become a couple in this episode. In Reinforcements from the Future Jen and Wes spend a night in the Animarium catching up.
