Tengu (テング 12):

History[]

A long nosed Yokai who used his power to place an entire town under his control so that his plan to kill the Kakurangers could not be interrupted. His powers include shooting beams from his eyes and fighting with a wind-producing magic fan. Tengu kidnapped children so that Prof. Yugami could use his science to resurrect the souls of fallen Yokai into the children. Because of this, Tengu used the Replica Youkai as a shield to prevent himself from being killed. Tengu didn't count on the Kakurangers being able to summon the Beast General Fighters, which beat down the revived Yokai while Tengu himself was destroyed when the Muteki Shogun's flaming sword, which also cut his nose off. After he was destroyed, the revived Yokai faded away and the children were restored to normal. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 12: They Came Foorth!! New Juushou

Though unseen, Tengu's spirit presumably emerged within the Seal Door along with all the other defeated Yokai, after their master Daimaou was finally contained there by the Kakurangers. Reeling that they were now powerless in captivity, the Yokai all vowed that they would one day be reborn and regain their power, cursing humanity. Tvicon TV STORY-Final Ep.: Sealing!!

Design[]

Tengu was designed by Hideo Okamoto.

Concept Art[]

Tengu went through several designs before reaching its final version. Hideo Okamoto first conceptualized a priest motif with scrolls surrounding the Yokai’s body. A second draft went for a more nature themed version with Tengu covered in leaves and a plant pot covering its body. The third draft went with a Wild West gunman theme before settling on the final design, which kept the gun but changed everything else.
