Sydney comes from a rich family and although being spoiled shows, she is the heart of the team. She takes pride in her looks and accomplishments as a model and a singer, but don't let her appearence fool you, she can hold her own as the Pink Ranger. Syd starts off pretty shallow and is quick to think about herself and her appearence. When Z first moves into her room, she is not happy at all. On her birthday, all she cares about is herself until she realizes Jack doesn't even have a birthday.

Sydney—or "Syd", as she is later nicknamed—was the daughter of one of the five scientists exposed to unusual radiation which changed all of them. Her usual ability is "Fist of Iron" (she carries a pocket-size iron nugget in her uniform belt), but her true ability is altering her molecular structure, transforming it into whatever element she touches.

As time goes on, Sydney learns the value of friendship and is always there for her team. When R.I.C. is ready for the scrap heap, she defends his worth and recruits Bridge and Boom to repair and upgrade him. She comes through during S.W.A.T. training on Zantour and against A-Squad. By the end, she teaches all of her teamates how to be better Rangers.

• Syd may have been promoted with all her teammates; being promoted to Yellow Ranger (when Sky became Red, Bridge became Blue, and Z may have become Green), and maybe even Green Ranger (when Cruger became Supreme Commander, Sky to Commander, Bridge to Red Ranger, and maybe Z becoming Blue Ranger). If Syd did indeed get promoted along with all her teammates being promoted, she and Z could have possibly become the first female Green Rangers. However, this seems unlikely as - at the end of S.P.D. - she and Z were still the Pink and Yellow Rangers, respectively.
• Syd is the only Pink Ranger not to have a skirt as part of her ranger suit.
• Syd is the first known Pink Ranger since Jen of Time Force.
