Gokai Change-Super Rangers

The Gokaigers changed into various rangers in their super modes. From left to right: Gokai Pink as Legend MagiPink, Gokai Green as DekaGreen (SWAT Mode), Gokai Red as Hyper Shinken Red, Gokai Blue as Super Gosei Blue, Gokai Yellow as Super GekiYellow, and Gokai Silver with his own Gold Mode.

Legendary Ranger Mode - Silver (Green Samurai Ranger)

Gokai Silver transformed into Shurikenger (Fire Mode).

Super Rangers (スーパーレンジャー Sūpā Renjā), also referred to as Power Up Warriors (パワーアップ戦士 Pawāappu Senshi), is a term referring collectively to Super Sentai Rangers in super forms. There are several kinds of super forms, some involve having single members of the core team transform, or the entirety. Some are exclusive to sixth rangers.

The term "Super Rangers" was officially used in the finale episode of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, "Farewell Space Pirates". When the Gokaigers used an all-super form Gokai Change, the Mobirates (and the Gokai Cellular) call out "Suuuuper Ranger!"

Before that, the term "Power-Up Henshin" was used in The 30 Sentai Encyclopedia file of Task 46: The Awakened Darkness, in GoGo Sentai Boukenger.

The concept of super modes for the Rangers was introduced in the first Super Sentai series, Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, with the New Gorenger suits. However, there was no physical difference between the suits, the only real difference being a change in the Gorengers' weapons.

Prior to the advent of the Super Rangers, several earlier Sentai heroes used Power Protectors, including Ryuu Hoshikawa (DynaBlack) and his "Battle Tector" and the Five Tector of the Hoshikawa siblings of Fiveman. While rare since the advent of Sentai Super modes, some teams such as the Boukenger still use Power Protectors instead of full Super modes.

Armed Mode[]

Armed Mode is a form taken by the Kyoryugers. However, it is not counted as a Super Ranger form, rather an extension form used to access weapons (other than the Gaburivolver). This is acknowledged by the arcade game Super Sentai Battle: Dice-O, whose website includes Armed On on the pages of the Kyoryugers rather than creating seperate pages as is done with Rangers and their Super Ranger forms.

Notes[]

  • The Gekirangers Super Mode, Kyoryu Red Carnival, Zyuoh Whale, Shishi Red Orion, Max Ryusoul Red, Super Zenkaiser, King Kuwagata Ohger, and King Ohkuwagata Ohger are the only few Super Rangers to wear new suits and helmets, rather than only wear modified suits and helmets.
  • Super Zenkaiser, Super Twokaizer (SD), and the Donbrothers Robotaro are the only few Super Rangers to be counted as mechas.
