Stone Canyon is a neighboring town to Angel Grove, California with the two cities often holding sporting events in friendly competition.
Layout[]
Almost nothing is actually known about the layout Stone Canyon except that it has a high school (Stone Canyon High) and a Youth Center. Despite being so crucial in the show's early history, Stone Canyon is never actually shown in the show itself and was only ever mentioned in dialogue.
Location History[]
Stone Canyon is first mentioned when episode "The Beetle Invasion" when the Angel Grove Youth Center is challenged by the Stone Canyon Youth Center for a broomball competition which the Power Rangers help them win. TV STORY-The Beetle Invasion
Later, in the episode "The Ninja Encounter-part I," three teens (Rocky DeSantos, Adam Park, and Aisha Campbell) arrive for a martial arts competition and successfully defeat. Said teens, Rocky DeSantos, Adam Park, and Aisha Campbell who eventually moved to Angel Grove and would go on to become the Red, Black and Yellow Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in time. After the destruction of the Beamcaster, Rocky, Adam and Aisha move to Angel Grove to be closer to the Power Rangers. TV STORY-The Power Transfer
Stone Canyon later comes to Angel Grove in 1995 for the Annual Volleyball Championship held between the two cities. However, they are defeated by the Power Rangers and then never seen again. TV STORY-Ninja Quest
Behind the Scenes[]
- Stone Canyon was "created" by writer Mark Hoffmeier as a plot device to introduce the replacements for Austin St. John, Walter Jones, and Thuy Trang after they walked off of the show during filming of the episode "Two for One".
- It is no coincidence that Stone Canyon pretty much dropped out of the show entirely once the replacements moved to Angel Grove.
