Samuell Benta is an English actor who portrayed Will Aston, the Black Overdrive Ranger in Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive.

Biography[]

From a very young age he has performed and taken part in many school productions but took acting seriously from the age of 17. Music has also been one of his passions with the rap alias “Myster?ous” but chose to pursue his acting career to focus on his vision. During his early teenage years, Samuell had his fair shares of run-ins with the law and has turned a new leaf for the better and made a commitment to himself to set a positive example for the younger generation. Inspired by actors such as Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Martin Lawrence and Bruce Willis to name a few, he set himself on a mission to be the next box office king in Hollywood. His first ever TV debut was on ITV’s The Bill in 2005 which was his first experience on a film set, from this he knew that the entertainment industry was made for him.

Convention History and Controversy[]

Benta was subject to rumors following his appearance at Power Morphicon 2007, where he was accused of stealing (and allegedly refusing to return) an autographed banner which was to be donated for charity at a later date, resulting in an lengthly banning from a future appearance at the convention due to his misconduct. The story resurfaced in 2020, with Benta responding through a video stating that although he was indeed was in possession of the banner, it had not been autographed yet at the time and he was going to help get those autographs for the staffing committee. After getting the autographs, Benta claimed to have left the banner in a room he thought was unaccessible to fans and exited the premises to have drinks with co-stars. When he returned to the same room, it was filled with fans and the banner had disappeared.[1][2] To date, the whereabouts of said banner are currently unknown.

On May 16, 2022, Benta was announced as a guest for Power Morphicon 2022, approximately 15 years after his initial banning and two years after the release of his video defending himself against said misconduct years prior.[3] For unknown reasons, Benta was unable to attend.

On October 12, 2023, Benta was announced as a guest for Ranger Stop Orlando, taking place in November 2023.[4] If Benta is able to attend, this will be his first known convention appearance since PMC 2007.
