Rio and Mele (Great Legend War)

Rio and Mele during the Legend War.

Rio and Mele were, along with several other dead heroes, revived to fight in the Great Legend War, as the crisis was so great, all 34 Super Sentai were needed to face the invading Space Empire Zangyack. Rio and Mele were part of a group of ten heroes who assisted the Super Sentai, among them are Signalman, the Black Knight Hyuuga, Doggie Kruger (DekaMaster) & Swan Shiratori (DekaSwan), Isamu Ozu (Wolzard Fire) & Miyuki Ozu (MagiMother), Zubaan, and Kaoru Shiba (Princess Shinken Red). The ten heroes served hold off the Zangyack forces so Akarenger and Big One, who led the 34 Sentai, and the Goseigers with Gosei Knight, who were only just recruited, join with the rest of the Super Sentai to begin the main battle. Rio and Mele were the last to arrive, annhilating the Zangyack who continued to pursue the Goseigers. As the 182 warriors who made up the 34 Sentai fought Zangyack's army, Rio, Mele and the other eight extra heroes continued their fight in a forest near to the main battlefield. After Akarenger ordered all Sentai to combine their powers to destroy the Zangyack fleet, Wolzard Fire complied and gave the order to the nine heroes. Rio and Mele along with everyone else, sacrificed their powers to destroy the invasion force and save the Earth. The two presumably returned to the afterlife afterawards.

Extra Hero Ranger Key Summon (Episode 23)

Rio and Mele's Ranger Keys as Basco's puppets.

The Super Sentai powers were dispersed throughout the universe in the form of Ranger Keys, which were collected by AkaRed. However, Rio and Mele's keys, along with the other eight extra heroes, and the fifteen Sixth Rangers, were acquired by Basco ta Jolokia, who betrayed AkaRed.

Copies of Rio and Mele were used by Basco in his plot to gain the greater power of GoGo-V. While Gai used Gold Mode to finish off Zubaan, the Gokaigers changed into the GoGo-V and fought against the other two. With Gokai Yellow, as GoYellow, and Gokai Pink, as GoPink, going up against Confrontation Beast Chameleon-Fist, and Gokai Red (GoRed), Gokai Blue (GoBlue) and Gokai Green (GoGreen) fighting Black Lion Rio. After all three were defeated and turned into keys again, Sally once again snatched them much to Gai's annoyance. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 23: People's Lives are the Future of the Earth

Basco united his 9 remaining keys against the Gokaigers when they searched for the Ohrangers' ultimate power. Gokai Silver took on Wolzard Fire and Zubaan while the Gokaigers as the Ohrangers fought the other seven, with Gokai Blue as OhBlue taking on Rio and Mele, the Gokaigers eventually used the Olé Bazooka to take the 7 copies down. Finally, the Gokaigers had taken all of Basco's keys, thanks to Gai shooting Sally before she had a chance to return to Basco's side with Keys in hand. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 31: Crash!! Secret Operations

While possessed by the Gokaigers, the RinJyuken keys were only used once. They were used in a Gekiranger Gokai Change by Don and Ahim, as an alternative to the main Gekiranger change where they became GekiViolet and GekiChopper respectively. This change was used against a squad of Gormin briefly, with Don displaying his "zany" fighting style as Rio. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 42: The Strongest Man in the Universe When the Gokaigers returned the Ranger Keys after defeating Zangyack once and for all, Rio and Mele presumably received their Ranger Keys despite being in the afterlife. Notes

  • Despite not being Gekirangers, Jan once offered to have Rio and Mele join the team in episode 47, even giving them the names GekiBlack (ゲキブラック GekiBurakku) and GekiGreen (ゲキグリーン GekiGurīn) respectively, much to the concern of Restu and Ran.
  • The RinJyuKen Warriors are the first two Sentai villains to become Extra Heroes after becoming good.
