Ranger Keys as toys are designed after the prop versions used by the Gokaigers to transform into past rangers. They can be inserted into the Mobilates toy or other toys. See "uses". Unlike the show which limits the keys to 199, and the movies which showcase other keys, the toyline is much more expansive.

Non-show Ranger Keys

The toyline "completes" the series of keys that are not fully realized in the show Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and provides keys for teams that follow as well.

Gobuster Ranger Keys

Beet Buster and Stag Buster Ranger Keys.

  • Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Ranger Keys (特命戦隊ゴーバスターズ レンジャーキー Tokumei Sentai Gōbasutāzu Renjā Kī?): These keys were released as part of the "Legends" series of toys. While most of the core keys made it to the show eventually, it is unknown if any of the sixth keys are part of the Gokaiger arsenal.
    • Beet Buster Key (ビートバスターキー Bīto Basutā Kī?)
    • Stag Buster Key (スタッグバスターキー Sutaggu Basutā Kī?)

  • Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger Ranger Keys (獣電戦隊キョウリュウジャー レンジャーキー Jūden Sentai Kyōryūjā Renjā Kī?): These keys were released in an upcoming B ndai Premium set. These keys don't make any sounds on the Mobilates toy but they each have their own audio barrels that generate unique sounds. It was also announced that alongside these keys a secret, yet to be revealed key would be released. This key was later revealed to be a Deathryuger Ranger Key, but soon retracted and announced to be Torin. While the core keys are hinted in the show, with Kyoryu Pink explicitly shown, it is unknown if the other keys are part of the Gokaiger arsenal. [1]

Ranger Keys by Charge

The Ranger Keys have different charges that activate the GokaiGalleon Buster. These are those of the six most common colors and the "Special Charge". While one can generally tell what color activates what color charge by seeing the key's bow, there are some variations, which occurs in the keys' teeth. Note however that prop keys used in-show usually have the Red Charge teeth.

List by Release

So far there are six different variations of Ranger Keys in terms of quality and release. These are One-click, DX, Gashapon (capsule toy), Bath salt, Candy Toy and Premium.

One-Click

One-Click Ranger Keys were released only once altogether in a set. They were fully painted and had a button on the right side. This button, when pressed, flips the legs of the "figure mode" to reveal the "key mode".

Deluxe Sets

Deluxe Sets or DX set keys are fully painted with key bow stickers already attached.

Deluxe Individuals

Deluxe Promo Keys

Candy Toys

Candy Toys are toys boxed with candies and sold in racks in Bandai Japan and Bandai Asia territories. They come with one lemon tablet candy. The keys in the candy toy set are painted. However, the black area between the legs is a sticker included in the package.

Gashapon

Gashapon Ranger Keys are sold through Gashapon/Gatch Capsule Machines, which sell them at between 2 to 3 tokens as cost. They require assembly and have no metal pin hinges. In most series, the chests are unpainted and require the application of stickers included in the set. Key bows also require application of stickers. Unlike the candy toys, however, the gap between the legs is already readily painted a gloss black, needing no sticker application.

Gashapon Legend Ranger Key Set

This set, while composed of thirty Gashapon keys, in principle, is a premium set with an exclusive box. It's not released in Gashapon machines. The idea of the set is to finish off any keys not included in any previous series and complete several teams. It rounds up the Goggle V, Maskmen, Turborangers, Dairangers, Ohrangers, Megarangers, Gingaman, and GoGoFive.

Premium Key Sets

After the Legend Edition set finished off all remaining characters in the 199 Hero roster, different premium sets were released in conjunction with other series and movies. These premium keys have snap-on hinges similar to the Gashapon keys. They differ greatly from Gashapon keys in that they are fully-painted and don't have removable head/neck pieces.

Terminologies

These are terms used in reference to Ranger Keys and used in this article:

  • Exclusive - a key is not available in any other series but the sole one it appears in.
  • Special Key - this refers to the key blade- a key produces not its regular sound in the Mobilates but rather the call "Special Ranger Key" and a special description.
  • Metallic - this refers to the key body- a key is entirely painted in a basic metallic color.
  • Sparkly - for gashapon keys, also referred to as metallic keys but aren't entirely covered in metallic paint, but rather in pearlized versions of the original color. The chest stickers and key bow stickers are also 'faceted' and thus sparkle.
  • Legend- anything released post-Gokaiger

Uses

  • Mobilates toys - Keys produce a 'team' audio or 'special ranger key' audio
  • Gokai Cellular toy - Keys used in conjunction with Cellular but generally function separately
  • GokaiGalleon Buster toy - Keys produce a 'charge' audio based on color or special state
  • Gokai Weapons toys - Keys produce an 'attack sound' and 'Final Wave' audio
  • Ride and Go-Buster - miniature mecha vehicles that activate with Ranger keys.
  • Robo playset - cockpit like playset that activates with five Rangers keys.
  • Kyoryuger/Deboth sound barrels - cylinders that activate Dr. Ulshade or Deboth voice clips.
  • ToQger sound barrel - a cylinder that activates the ToQger narrator's voice clips.

Notes

  • With the exception of Black Knight and DekaMaster, none of the Extra Rangers have individual Ranger Key numbers.
  • Deathryuger was originally revealed alongside the Kyoryugers as the secret Ranger Key they've been promoting. However, they quickly apologized for the "error" and revealed the secret key to be Torin, leaving Deathryuger to be in another set. Deathryuger became a major selling point for the following set which contained the Deboth Legion, which eventually was revealed to contain three new Rangers- variants of the former Kyoryugers.
  • The blocky style of the Megazord keys was exclusively the Megazords' until Bandai elected to use the same style for the monster keys of the Deboth Legion. However, these are not show or movie-based.
