|This article is about a/an toy company in the Super Sentai series.|
Popy (ポピー) was a toy division of Bandai which operated from the early 1970s to the early 1980s. They were also the home of planning and design studio PLEX, which was established in 1981.
They are notable for for revolutionizing the toy industry in the use of die cast metal for their robot toys with the Chogokin line, some of which were Super Sentai Robos. In 1983, the company merged back into its parent company and then dissolved in 1987 due to corporate restructuring.
While the company brand briefly revived in-name only in the 2000s, it finally folded back and dissolved fully into Bandai in 2007 due to further restructuring during its merger with Namco. Popy's sole surviving division is PLEX, which now plans toys and characters under Bandai Namco Group LTD.
