Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is a comic book series based on the TV series of the same name published by Boom! Studios.
The series is a reboot happening in a different timeline to any past media or the 2017 movie, and is more mature than the series' usual campy tone.
A special one-shot "MMPR Issue #0" came out on January 6, 2016, while the full series debuted in March of the same year.
Characters Bulk and Skull had their own side stories running alongside the main story, which were replaced with side stories featuring Squatt and Baboo.
Taking place in Angel Grove in the year 2015, Issue #1 began with the "Green Ranger: Year One" story arc, where Tommy Oliver, the Green Ranger, has broken free of Rita Repulsa's control and joined the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. However, he suffers the side effects of having been brainwashed by evil.
The second story was the "Black Dragon/Lord Drakkon" story arc, where an evil version of Tommy from an alternate reality plots the end of the Power Rangers of the main universe of the comic and some of the Rangers end up trapped in Drakkon's world and must fight to survive. A third and currently unnamed arc involves the Power Rangers lives becoming more complicated as a former Ranger takes an interest in their activities, which could threaten to break apart the team.
A fourth arc called "Shattered Grid" is currently under development for a 2018 spring to summer release and will start with Issue #25. The arc is a multi-issue crossover as it will tie into Go Go Power Rangers, commemorating both the 25th anniversary of Power Rangers and the 25th issue of the main book. It involves Lord Drakkon returning to take revenge on the Power Rangers in an assault that could threaten the very existence of all Power Rangers across time and space. The arc's tagline is: "No Ranger is Safe"
A Power Rangers team assembled by Zordon during the Space Race for a secret Moon mission to stop the revival of Psycho Green and prevent him from freeing Rita Repulsa from her space dumpster. Their mission ended tragically, as three of the Rangers ended up killed in action and left its surviving members traumatized by the horrific events. This team featured historic firsts for the franchise, the first male Pink Ranger and the first official female Black Ranger.
