Thirteenth Lesson - Shin-Shin! The Spirit's Dance (修行その13 シンシン!精霊の舞い Shugyō Sono Jūsan: Shin-Shin! Seirei no Mai) is the thirteenth episode of Juken Sentai Gekiranger. It is the first of a two-parter introducing the third Gekijuken Fist Sage, Master Bat Li and his training of Retsu.

Synopsis

When the Gekiranger encounter two of Kata's flying minions, they are instructed to meet with an eccentric dancer who inspires Retsu.

Plot

To obtain the despair he needs to teach Rio to channel his hatred as power, Kata sends up his two bodyguards, the two Flying-Ken, to be his eyes while providing him more Rinki. Meanwhile, Xia Fu takes the Gekirangers to the ballet much to the dismay of Jan (who falls asleep in boredom) and Ran and to the delight of Retsu. In the middle of the performance, Jan woke up and sensed the Flying-Ken attacking people, turning their fear into lightning for their plan to destroy the city and get more Rinki from it. The Flying-Ken, Rin Jū Crane-Ken user Rūtsu and Rin Jū Crow-Ken user Rasuka, defeat the Gekirangers as well as overpowering Geki ElephanTohja. When the team asks Xia Fu on a technique to fly to counter the two flying martial artists, he sends them to a mysterious appreciation festival where they meet Kensei Bat Li, a grand master of the Geki Jū Bat-Ken style. Though he refused at first, Bat Li changes his mind when Retsu shows him his abilities. While Jan and Ran attempt to stop the Flying-Ken, Retsu begins learning Geki Jū Bat-Ken and the art of the war fan from Bat Li, whose lesson is simple: "Abandon all techniques to master this fighting style."
