"My name is Ka-Ching, a monster who feeds on greed!"
―Ka-Ching's introduction[src]

Ka-Ching is a bear/mushroom/ATM-themed monster who appears exclusively on a TV show the Dino Rangers watch in the episode "Lost & Found in Translation". He is one of the few creatures in Dino Thunder to either not be affiliated with Mesogog or have battled the American Dino Thunder Rangers. Given that he appeared on a TV show about the Rangers, it's likely that he was never a real monster, and was instead, a man in a rubber suit, as noted by Conner.

History[]

Ka-Ching is a mutant creature from Japan. Conner, Ethan and Kira viewed this TV show in the nineteenth episode. Ka-Ching's origin is unknown, but he could use his magic mushrooms to make people greedy and ambitious. Ka-Ching attacked the city and started attacking people by growing mushroom head wigs on people and making them greedy. He also met Whacker Wilson, the American baseball player who arrived at Japan. Then Ka-Ching encountered the Abarangers. He summoned Triptoids. The Rangers battled the Triptoids and Ka-Ching tried to use his magic mushrooms to turn the heroes into Wig Rangers and make them greedy. Ka-Ching fired his mushrooms at the Rangers, but the heroes were saved by Wilson who used his baseball bat to rebound one of his mushrooms back at him, growing a mushroom head on him, making the Triptoids laugh. Ka-Ching and the Triptoids left.

Then Ka-Ching returned and tricked Wilson by giving him an autograph, but then the villain infected the baseball player with his wig. Ka-Ching also infected many other people in the city.

When Kenny talked with Wilson, Ka-Ching attacked the Blue Ranger with his coins, trapping him. Then Ryoga and Ranru arrived to help their friend. Kenny freed himself from the coins and the Rangers started a battle with the villain. Ka-Ching even offered the heroes to join him by offering them money. The Rangers refused, of course, but Ryoga made an inappropriate joke about getting paid by the monster. Then Mikey arrived and brought giant piggy banks to catch the money of Ka-Ching. The Rangers were catching the villain's money, but his attacks proved to be too much, and the heroes were struck down. But then Kenny remembered how Wilson batted Ka-Ching's mushroom back at him and decided to use it, as he believed that Wilson loved baseball more than money. Kenny threw the piggy bank at Wilson and Whacker batted it at Ka-Ching, making him unconscious. Then he waked up and furiously attacked the heroes. But the Abarangers used the Z-Rex Blaster to finish Ka-Ching and put an end to his chaotic money problems. Tvicon TV STORY-Lost & Found in Translation

Etymology[]

  • Ka-Ching's name comes from Ka-Ching a word used to represent the sound of a cash register.

Notes[]

  • Bankumushroom was never properly adapted as one of Mesogog's creatures due to its silly nature in opposition of Dino Thunder's somewhat serious tone. Given that the Abaranger show is supposedly a Dino Thunder rip-off in-universe, with it having a tone similar to the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the producers felt that Bankumushroom was the perfect monster for the episode since it was felt that its silly nature would only work as a parody. Alternatively, one of the items used to defeat Ka-Ching as molded to look like a Maneki-Neko, a popular Japanese toy that would have no explanation to be used in American culture.
  • Ka-Ching shares the same voice actor as Stench from Power Rangers S.P.D.. Interestingly, Bankumushroom and Stench's Japanese counterpart from Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, Botsian Zortac are both voiced by the same person as well.
  • Ka-Ching was the first monster that uses greed in its attacks, just like Spell Digger.
  • Ka-Ching is the only monster in the show’s history to retain all of the Japanese text from his appearances on purpose.
