Early life

LeonardokimAdded by Leonardokim
Much of Marvelous' early life is unknown, but what is known is, when he was ten years old, he was saved by Space Sheriff Gavan, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Uchuu Keiji Gavan: The Movie and after he grew up he traveled alone as a pirate. Captain Marvelous once fought Kiaido, the strongest bounty hunter in the universe, who nearly killed him, but he intentionally stabbed himself in the chest to create a weak spot in order to make the fight more interesting, ultimately letting Marvelous escape. Ep. 28: Wings are Eternal

One day, while looking through treasure after a run in with the Gormin, Marvelous discovered something of interest: the Ranger Key of Akarenger. AkaRed soon appeared and told Marvelous that he needed it, but Marvelous refused to give him it and attacked him, but was swiftly defeated. AkaRed told him about the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, telling him that he would never get what he wanted if he just gave up, and this speech inspired Marvelous to join AkaRed.

Red Pirate Gang

The Red Pirate Gang
The Red Pirate Gang.

Marvelous was part of the Red Pirate Gang with AkaRed along with his robotic parrot, Navi. One notable occasion saw AkaRed save Marvelous from his own impulsiveness before finding the BoukenRed Key. Ep. 21: The Adventurer Heart They would later be joined by Basco ta Jolokia. They searched the universe in the GokaiGalleon to find the Ranger Keys, which contained the powers of the 34 Sentai teams which were dispersed all over the universe, so they could find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe.

They eventually managed to find all the Ranger Keys of the core Sentai teams, but Basco betrayed AkaRed and Marvelous, and revealed that he conspired with Zangyack forces that attacked the ship, wanting the treasure all for himself. AkaRed saved Marvelous from the Zangyack forces and gave him the chest containing the Ranger Keys (though unbeknownst to Marvelous, Basco possessed the Sixth, Bangai, and Extra Ranger Keys), telling him to find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. AkaRed was last seen charging into dozens of Gormin Sailors. Ep. 15: A Privateer Appears Ep. 2: The Worth of this Planet

The Ranger Keys allowed Marvelous to harness the power of the 34 Super Sentai who once protected the Earth, with the Gokaiger Keys, he started the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger team, with himself as Gokai Red. Marvelous travelled in the GokaiGalleon in his search. Her hints, though confusing, proved to be of help to him in his continuing efforts to find the greatest treasure in the universe.

Gokaiger

Comrades

He later came across Joe Gibken, who was being pursued by Zangyack forces for escaping after he refused to carry out orders. He had a tracking collar on him which would kill him if he removed it, Joe was saved from his executioners by Marvelous, whom he vowed to follow after Captain Marvelous managed to get the collar off through painstaking effort, Joe became Gokai Blue. Ep. 12: The Guaranteed Showy Samurai Marvelous and Joe later met and befriended Luka Millfy, a criminal who stole energy crystals from Zangyack warehouses, who became Gokai Yellow; Ep. 34: Dream Comes True Don Dogoier, a somewhat insignificant but intelligent mechanic who became Gokai Green; Ep. 42: The Strongest Man in the Universe and Ahim de Famille, Ep. 41: Something I Don't Want to Lose the Princess of the planet Famille which was destroyed by Zangyack who became Gokai Pink. With this, the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger were complete. Ep. 8: Little Spy Tactics

Earth

The Gokai Galleon arrived to Earth after Navi confirmed it to be where the Greatest Treasure in the Universe is buried. Though a small advance fleet of Zangyack ships were seen heading towards the planet, Marvelous refused to turn the ship around when they are close to the treasure. With that in mind, the Gokai Galleon fought through the fleet before forming GokaiOh to destroy them single handedly. After reaching the Earth, Captain Marvelous introduced himself and his crew to a group of humans as the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and stated their intentions to obtain the Treasure from them, only for no one to have any knowledge of the treasure. Captain Marvelous had Luka sell her ring off for cash to eat at the Snack Safari. Unknown to the team, the Zangyack flagship Gigant Horse arrives within Earth's atmosphere as an infuriated Commander Warz Gill declared an all-out assault on the planet with the main invasion force. Action Commander Shikabanen leads the Gormin Sailors to attack as the Gokai Galleon crew were about to eat. Though they attempt to stay out of the skirmish, the Gokai Galleon crew reconsidered due to their experience with the Zangyack forces conquering their planet long ago. Arriving to the aid of two women and several children, the crew transformed into the Gokaigers to battle the Zangyack forces. When the second wave arrives, the Gokaigers assumed the forms of the Gorangers, Shinkengers and Magirangers to get rid of the Gormin. Transforming back, the Gokaigers use their Gokai Sabres' Final Wave attack to destroy Shikabanen. Soon after, now expecting retaliation from the Zangyack forces, the crew take their leave while being admired by the populace as heroes, though Captain Marvelous insisted that they were not protecting them and only attacked the villains for ruining his lunch. Ep. 1: The Space Pirates Appear

On the Gokai Galleon, after seeing more of the Zangyack Empire's invasion of the Earth, Captain Marvelous has Navi use its abilities to find a clue that the Greatest Treasure can be reached by asking someone dressed in black. While searching to no avail, they come across a student in a black school uniform who claims to know where the Treasure is. The boy talks about the Super Sentai that the Gokaigers became in their earlier battle, with Captain Marvelous revealing that their power comes from the Ranger Keys. The boy asks to take a picture of the captain with his Ranger Key in order to steal it, only to fail and run away after revealing he lied about knowing about the Treasure. However, Captain Marvelous realizes that the boy swiped his Shinken Red Key during the fight and goes after him with Ahim following to keep him from doing anything wrong. Through Captain Marvelous finds him, the boy refuses to give up the only protection Earth has since the Super Sentai teams disappeared, revealing that his grandfather died in the first Zangyack invasion during the Legend War. This makes Captain Marvelous remember his planet being invaded by the Zangyack Empire and being saved by a warrior dressed only in red who gave him the Ranger Keys and Navi, directing him to find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. The Zangyack Empire's invasion forces resume their attack under Action Commander Bongan. Giving the boy his Mobilate, Captain Marvelous stands by as he transforms into Shinken Red and fights the Gormin as the rest of the Gokai Galleon crew arrives. But when Bongan overpowers the student, Captain Marvelous takes back his things before asking the boy if the planet had actual value. Liking the boy's answer, Captain Marvelous and his crew confront the Action Commander and take out the soldiers. Assuming the forms of the Dekarangers and then of the Hurricaneger and Gouraiger ninja teams, the Gokaigers assume the forms of Red Rangers to defeat him. However, Development Technical Officer Insarn uses her new invention to revive Bongan and enlarge him and three Zugormin to giant sizes. Gokai Red calls in the Gokai Galleon and launches the four Gokai Machines to take out two of the Zugormin. The Gokaigers then combine their Gokai Machines to form Gokaioh, taking out both the last Zugormin and Bongan with the student watching. Soon after, the Gokai Gallon sets sail with the rest of the crew unsure about their captain's reasons along with Navi's clue being apparently a fluke. Ep. 2: The Worth of this Planet

Marvelous and Don Gokaiger 3
Marvelous and Don face a test of courage.

Sailing into the fog-ridden forest, with their radar failing on them suddenly and Navi blamed for this course, the Gokai Galleon crashes into a Zangyack Battleship (who also got lost in the fog) before plowing into the ground. Don panics as he suggests they should leave quickly before they are attacked by the battleship's captain, Action Commander Salamandam, who has been sent to Earth to cause mass volcanic eruptions. The Gokaigers battle Salamandam and the Gormin before the Action Commander uses his tail's eruption-invoking powers to separate Captain Marvelous and Doc from the others. The two then meet the mysterious figure in black, the Red Magician Kai Ozu who points out the Gokai Galleon crew has yet to use the Ranger Keys' true power. Kai tells them that if they follow him without transforming, he will give them information about the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, using his magic and Heavenly Saint Flagel to hinder them along the way. Though Doc is fearful of the obstacles set up against them, Captain Marvelous manages to bravely overcome Kai's magic. Meanwhile, the other Gokaigers took out the Gormin and drove Salamandam back, causing him to interfere in Captain Marvelous's literal leap of faith to pass Kai's final test. Though frightened to jump to reach Kai, Doc overcomes his fears in order to save his captain's life from a loose boulder while barely making it to the other side. After explaining to Doc how it was courage that gave him and his family the power to fight the Infershia many years ago, Kai reveals that Doc has passed his test to see if his courage can release that same power in the Magiranger Keys. After revealing the Gokai Galleon crew will obtain the Greatest Treasure by mastering the power of all thirty-four Super Sentai, Kai takes his leave as the other Gokaigers arrive when Salamandam emerges again. The Gokaigers proceed, assuming the forms of the Magirangers to fight him. Doc's courage in the face of danger enables them to perform the binding "Magi Magi Go Gokai" spell to hold the Action Commander at bay while they use the Ozu siblings' signature final attacks to defeat Salamandam along with their own Gokai Blast Final Wave attack. When Salamandam and the Zugormin enlarge, GokaiOh is overpowered by the four opponents before the Magiranger Keys react to the situation. Using them, the Gokaigers summon MagiDragon from within GokaiOh, turning the giant robot into Magi GokaiOh which takes out the Zugormin with its new powers before performing the Gokai Magi Bind finishing attack to destroy Salamandam. With Kai seeing Flagel off to Magitopia, he sees his power is in the right hands as he takes his leave. On the Gokai Galleon, the crew apologizes to Navi for doubting his fortune, before accidentally upsetting the robot parrot once more. Ep. 3: Changing Courage into Magic

Basco returns

Eventually, after gaining a few Grand Powers, Marvelous runs into Basco once again and tries to do away from him before getting distracted by giant Zugormins. After this, Navi explains to the rest of the crew the history of the Red Pirates. Marvelous then leaves the ship to confront Basco where he learns about the Sixth Hero Ranger Keys. With help from his crew, he was able to take the DragonRanger, KingRanger,Shurikenger, DekaBreak, and TimeFire Ranger Keys. However, Basco revealed that he had more as his Ranger Key Clones puppets captured his crew. Ep. 15: A Privateer Appears Later, Basco proposed an exchange: his friends for the Galleon, Navi, and Ranger Keys he had. Recollecting on his past, Marvelous confronts Basco, telling him that he's a pirate and will take what he wants as he frees his friends. With their help, they managed to defeat all of Basco's Ranger Puppets and Basco releases Wateru, a Liquidroid, to battle the Gokaigers. After defeating it, the crew returns to the Galleon where Marvelous apologizes for getting them into trouble to which his friends say it's alright. He then says, under his breath, "thank you." Ep. 16: Clash! Sentai vs. Sentai

Pirates and Angels

Give us your power
Captain Marvelous urges the past Sentai heroes to give their power so his team and the Goseigers can defeat the Black Cross King.

However, a new Zangyack invasion appears a year later. Luckily, having witnessed the battle from space, Aka Red managed to gather the Ranger Keys, the Super Sentai's sealed power, leading to the formation of the Gokaigers who use the Ranger Keys as part of their arsenal in their quest for the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. During a forced battle with a platoon under Barizorg and Insarn, the Gokaigers use the Go-onger, Dynaman, and Fiveman Keys to take out waves of the grunts, but before they can use the Goseiger Keys, Agri and Moune steal the Goseiger Ranger Keys so their team can regain their powers. With Barizorg and Insarn forced to withdraw, the Goseigers ask for Gosei Knight's Ranger Key to restore the Groundion Headder to his usual form. Though having no idea that they have it, the Gokaigers demand the Goseiger Keys back. Despite attempting to settle things peacefully, Gosei Red sees no choice but to fight. The battle between the two Sentai teams ends in a stalemate with the pirates withdrawing.

Meanwhile, aboard the Gigant Horse, Warz Gill and his crew are notified of a void approaching their ship. The entity, revealed to be the Black Cross King, the resurrected Black Cross Furher, manifests and proposes an alliance with the Zangyack so he can have his revenge on the Super Sentai and their supporters. Although Warz is initially unwilling, he accepts Black Cross King's offer when he promises to leave the Earth to him as all he wants is to kill the Gokaigers. Back aboard the Gokai Galleon, as he and his shipmates have familiarize themselves with the sixth hero Ranger Keys, Doc finds the Gosei Knight Key in the Gokai Treanger Box with Captain Marvelous deciding to use it as bait. However, the Gokai Galleon falls under attack by Gosei Great as Gokaioh forms to fight back. During the battle, Gosei Red sneaks into the Gokai Galleon's living quarters to get the Gosei Knight Key. But found out by Gokai Red, Gosei Red is forced to steal the entire Gokai Treanger Box as the two red warriors take their fight outside and Gosei Red manages to get the Gosei Knight Key. By then, the Gigant Horse enters Earth's atmosphere and opens fire with the Black Cross King taking the Gokai Treanger Box before resurrecting Brajira of the Messiah, Hades God Dagon and Yogoshimacritein as the three villains teleport the two groups away. Afterwards, Navi investigates the scene and finds the Gosei Knight key which Alata dropped.

As this all happened, after selling off some of his anpan at an elementary school and meeting a child with a well preserved DaiDenzin toy, Daigoro Oume makes his way to the next school before meeting Ryo of the Heavenly Fire Star as he saves a salaryman from being unintentionally run over by S.P.D. Officer Koume "Umeko" Kodou. The three soon learn that the salaryman lost his job and his inability to sell off a toy replica of the Variblune made him consider suicide on the street. The heroes, however, encourage him not to lose hope as Ryo offers him a serving of his gyōza. The three Sentai warriors, along with their various allies, witness the Black Cross King appearing in the sky as he announces that he has their powers and will soon acquire the powers of the Gokaigers and Goseigers before enacting his revenge.

Finding themselves in an office building, Marvelous and Alata find themselves needing to defeat Brajira while dealing with his Bibi Soldiers in order to return to their space. Doc, Ahim, Eri and Hyde have their trouble with Dagon and his Zobils while Joe, Luka, Agri and Moune contend with Yogoshimacritein and his Ugatz in a Feudal Japan movie set within a thirty minute timeline. Despite their differences, the Gokaigers and Goseigers find common ground with each other and manage to defeat the three resurrected villains and return to their space where are welcomed back by Navi and a restored Gosei Knight. Deciding to accept a team up with the Gosei Angels, Captain Marvelous and his crew face the Black Cross King as he has them fight the animated Ranger Keys. After a grueling battle, the Gokaigers and Super Goseigers manage to revert their numerous opponents back into Ranger Keys. Upset by the turn of events, yet taking advantage of their weakened state, the Black Cross King assumes his full size to finish the two Sentai teams off himself. However, the Ranger Keys suddenly glow and enveloped the Super Sentai groups in a bright light.

The two teams find themselves surrounded by the Ranger Keys as they are spoken to in spirit by Tsuyoshi Kaijo, Sokichi Banba, Kanpei Kuroda, Rei Tachibana, Shirō Gō and Riki Honoo, who see the two teams holding the morals and values they themselves strive for. As they, Daigoro, Ryo, Umeko, Satoru Akashi, Chiaki Tani, Genta Umemori and Saki Rōyama agree to letting him and his crew have their teams' Great Powers, Captain Marvelous demands all their aid. Answering his call, the Ranger Keys create the Super Sentai Bazooka which the Gokaigers and the Goseigers use to destroy the Black Cross King before the Ranger Keys fly back into the Gokai Treanger Box. The Black Cross King, however, reveals his true form as the Black Cross Colossus while proceeding to wreak havoc on Tokyo. Gokaioh, Gosei Great and Gosei Ground attempt to stop him, but they are overwhelmed by his attacks with Gosei Knight taken out of the fight. Nozomu Amachi and the salaryman, remembering the sentai heroes' words, urge the citizens not to lose hope and cheer for the two Super Sentai groups. This support restores Gokaioh and Gosei Great as they are joined by the main giant robots of the other 33 groups animated from various items including the salary man's Variblune and the boy's Daidenzin.

Though the Black Cross Colossus attempts to counter with Brajira and his Buredoran incarnations, Dagon with fellow Hades Gods Cyclops and Ifrit, and Yogoshimacritein with two of his followers, they are all destroyed by the Sentai mecha. With the Great Power of the Gorengers, the Gokaigers have Gokaioh combine with Variblune to form Goren Gokaioh before finishing off the Black Cross Colossus with the Gokai Hurricane Cassiopeia. With the battle over, the 33 past Super Sentai mecha vanish as the crowd thanks the Gokaigers and Goseigers for saving the day. Later, the Gosei Angels give the Goseiger Keys back to the Gokai Galleon crew while hoping the pirates would begin to love their planet while giving them their Great Power. As the Gokai Galleon sails off for another adventure, its departure is watched by a man in Silver. Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle

The Amazing Silver Man

Once again, Marvelous and his crew receive another clue to the Greatest Treasure in the Universe thanks to Navi. This time, the clue was to find an Amazing Silver Man. Ep. 17: The Amazing Silver-Colored Man After asking him how he gained the powers of a Gokaiger, Marvelous takes his Gokai Cellular and Ranger Key away, asking him what he could offer his crew. Despite this, he was worried about someone so young fighting against the Zangyack. However, after seeing Gai risk his life for others, and exciting him with the idea that Gai would restore peace to the universe by defeating the Zangyack, Marvelous gives him his Ranger Key and Gokai Cellular, and with that, the crew gained a new member. In light of recent events, more so Marvelous learning of Basco's ability to steal Grand Powers by force, Marvelous becomes impatient as Satoru Akashi approaches the Gokaigers hoping that he would help him get a Precious known as the Heart of Hades. Marvelous initially refuses, but with a bit of taunting and Luka's desire to see this treasure, Marvelous agrees to help. Eventually, Marvelous returns to his usual self as he, Akashi, and Luka find the Heart of too late as a member of the Janryu Tribe revives their fallen leader, King Ryuuwon. After learning the love of adventures thanks to Akashi, they escape the cave-in, and battle Ryuuwon as the Boukengers. After taking the Heart of Hades, Ryuuwon revives again and grows into a giant monster. Despite the combination of Deka GokaiOh and GozyuRex, Ryuuwon is still too powerful. Marvelous then decides to use the Greater Power of the Boukengers for the first time, summoning DaiBouken and the GoGo Ken, then uses the Gokai Adventure Drive finisher to defeat Ryuuwon once again. The crew runs into Basco again looking for another Grand Power, this time that of the Kyukyu Sentai GoGo-V, then summons the past Bangai Heroes Rio, Mele, and Zubaan to battle the Gokaigers after Luka and Ahim stalled Basco long enough for the Marvelous and the rest of the crew to show up and help. Becoming Gokai Silver to investigate in Gojyu Rex, Gai is shocked to find what seemed to be Gokaioh appearing from the ship and attacking him. Defeating Gojyujin, Fake Gokaioh jumps back to the ship as it immediately disappears. Later, aboard the Gokai Galleon, the crew identify the mysterious vessel as the space-wandering ghost ship said to carry a fabled treasure known as the God Eye - which can grant any wish to its holder. Seeing this as a better opportunity to obtain the Greatest Treasure in the Universe regardless of the risks, the Gokai Galleon crew embark on a voyage to find the ghost ship and acquire the God Eye. The Gokai Galleon locates the ghost ship and makes port in its skull figurehead's mouth. After encountering a trio of annoying ghosts who unknowingly pointed them in the right direction, the Gokai Galleon crew reach the ship's main bridge and see the God Eye resting on the left eye of a giant skull. However, they are stopped by the ship's captain Los Dark, who reveals that he was luring would-be thieves to his lair as he sends the crew into a dimensional underworld so his minions can kill them and allow him to live again.

The crew wind up at a park, finding themselves surrounded by ghosts of previous Super Sentai enemy grunts. After the Gokaigers take down several of them, the remaining members from each grunt group merge to form the Combined Combatant. Though the stronger opponent, the Combined Combatant proves to be unstable due to internal conflicting among the grunts composing him over who gets to finish the pirates off. Taking advantage, the Gokaigers use the Battle Fever J Keys to destroy the Combined Combatant with the Penta Force Cannon, the explosion sending them to a baseball stadium, where they confront Baseball Mask of the Black Cross Army who challenges them to a game of baseball. Using the Gorenger Keys, execute the Gorenger Hurricane baseball to accept the Masked Monster's challenge. When Fake Gokaioh is about to fire its main cannon, the Gokaigers summon Variblune, Pat Striker, Magi Dragon, Geki Tiger and Dragon Headder to destroy Fake Gokaioh in an explosion that consumes the Ghost Ship. Back aboard the Gokai Galleon, the crew is having a hearty lunch while Gai arrives and is disappointed upon learning the God Eye was a fake as the pirates assure him that they will have more fun finding the Greatest Treasure without it. The battle takes a turn for the worse when Goujyujin is heavily damaged. During the battle, the Hurricangers give their approval to the Gokaigers allowing them to access their Greater Power, Fuuraimaru. An old enemy

Eventually, Marvelous and his crew have a run in with the famous bounty hunter named Kiado. Though his fear from his first encounter tries to take over, he manages to transform and fight the space bounty hunter only to lose to him despite using the powers of the Biomen and Maskmen. After the Gokaiger's defeat, they receive yet another cryptic hint from Navi about another Greater Power which Gai quickly deduces that Navi was referring to the Choijin Sentai Jetman. While searching for a member of the Jetman, Marvelous and Ahim have a run in with a stranger riding a motorcycle. The stranger questions his abilites as a Red Warrior as the two engage in a small fight. Marvelous is overpowered by the stranger and takes his Mobilate. He then tells Marvelous and Ahim that he is Gai Yuki before leaving. Marvelous and his crew then learn from Gai one of the biggest mysteries that surrounded the disappearance of one of its members, the Black Condor, who happens to be Gai Yuki. To everyone's shock, they all knew who he was and wondered how why he would have come to see them rather than his team. Marvelous did not care about the whys and the whats but only that his and Joe's Mobilates were stolen. Eventually, Marvelous confronts Gai again and demands his Mobilates. Gai however, states that he cannot fight the way he is because he can not admit to his weaknesses. Eventually, Gai leads Marvelous to a gravestone with Gai Yuki's name engraved on it. Eventually, Gai and the rest of the Gokaigers show up and pay their respects before Gai tells the Gokaigers that Gai Yuki did not show up to his fellow teammates because they finally had a shot at a normal life and that he would fight for them despite him being dead. It was then that Marvelous realized his resolve and stood against Kiado with the same resolve: the resolve to fight to surpass your limits and even beyond that: to be as endless as the sky. The Gokaigers then transformed into the Jetmen and defeated Kiado. Before departing back to his heaven, Gai told Marvelous that it was his team's turn to protect the bright blue sky. After vanishing, Marvelous swore that he would use the Greater Power of the Jetman to do just that. Ep. 28: Wings are Eternal

Greater Power Update

Soon after obtaining the Greater Power of the Jetman, they obtained the Greater Power of the Liveman and learned of the true Greater Power of the Abarangers. Their next Greater Power would lead the Gokaigers to encounter the military unit U.A.O.H (United Airforce Overtech Hardware) and the former OhPink, Momo Maruo. However, she was given the task to stall the Gokaigers while Gorou Hoshino tried to take back the Greater Powers taken by Basco. When it seemed like the mission would fail, Momo was tasked to give the power to the Gokaigers which Marvelous refused as he claimed that as a pirate he would take whatever he wanted. Instead of the former, the Gokaigers decided to deal with Basco and his Ranger Clone Keys personally. As the tides turned and the Gokaigers now in possession of all known Ranger Keys, Marvelous rushed Basco in hopes of settling their score. However, Marvelous's attack was deflected by a simple transformation as Basco shows his true form, claiming it to be a form that even AkaRed was afraid of. Gai proceeded to stop Basco but was easily outmatched and knocked unconscious by his true power as all of the Gokaigers fell. As Marvelous lay on the ground, Basco showed him the Greater Powers he has already taken: The Greater Powers of the Changeman, Flashman, and Maskman. He then leaves Marvelous, telling him to keep collecting more Greater Powers as he does the same so that his job is easier. Ep. 31: Crash!! Secret Operations

New Power

Marvelous using that brain
Marvelous considers Gorou Hoshino's advice to use the Ohrangers' greater power when uniting his team's powers after their defeat by Basco.

Eventually, the Gokaigers recovered from their wounds from their last battle with Basco, with the exception of Gai who had a broken arm, and began training immensely for their next battle which was against the Aegis of the Zangyack, Shieldon, a powerful Action Commander who's shield could not be pierced by anything. It was during this time that Don created the Gokai Galleon Buster using the OhRanger's Greater Power, and defeated the impenetrable Action Commander. Ep. 32: One Power

After that, Gai's arm had healed and he was ready for action when another Action Commander, Zakyura, showed up and began eating all of Earth's food, and without his knowledge, Gai's Gokai Cellular. Eventually, Gai meets with the former RyuuRanger, Ryo, of the Dairangers and is reminded of why he became a hero in the first place with Marvelous showing concern over him while he was at odds with himself. Ep. 33: Iiiit's a Hero!!

Machalcon

Marvelous and Sosuke
Marvelous with Sosuke Esumi in Gunman World.

A while later, as the Gokaigers were haivng dinner, a small robot fell from a red tear in the sky and fell onto the Galleon stunning everyone. Eventually, the robot introduced himself as B.O.M.P.E.R as Gai revealed that he was a support assistant for the Go-ongers. B.O.M.P.E.R. then asked to be taken to the former Go-On Red, Sosuke Esumi where he asks for help in dealing with some Gaiark remnants in the Gunman World. Initially, the Gokaigers, excluding Gai, were against the idea of helping the people in need until Sosuke went to great lengths to reach the Gunman world on his own. There, they learned of the Engines who fought alongside the Go-ongers as well as a marriage between Sosuke's partner, Speedor, and BearRV, as well as their son, Engine 13, Machalcon. They eventually face-off against the Gaiark's Sherrif, Chirakashizukii, who was terrorizing the citizens of Gunman World, and defeat him only to learn that, not only did the Go-onger's Greater Power do nothing for them, but the attack on Gunman World was a trap set up up by the new President of the Gaiark, Babacchiido (the second) as he sealed the dimensional votrex that allowed the Gokaigers to enter Gunman World. Ep. 35: Dimension on the Other Side

Eventually, they get the idea to ask Machalacon for help as he was the only Engine not to participate in battle against Chirakashizukii. Entering Machine World, they see Machalacon racing down the highway ignoring their pleas. The Gokaigers then begin attack him in an attempt to stop him from running away as Marvelous explains to him that his racing was an excuse to run from his parents's legacy. Eventually, Marvelous and his crew manage to calm Machalcon down when Marvelous tells him that if he wants something to fight for, he has to go out there and find it. Surprisingly enough, Machalacon asks Marvelous if he can join his crew in an attempt to find something to fight for, to which Marvelous agrees to. With his help, the Gokaigers and Sosuke manage to get back to the Human World to find the Zangyack and Gaiark fighitng each other with most of the Zangyack retreating as the Gokaiger's finish off the remaining forces and Babacchiido (the second). Babachhiido then grows in size as the Gokaiger's summon their mechas to deal with him; however, the battle proves to be tough as both Gokai-Oh and Goujyujin are being tossed around. Sosuke shows up telling the Gokaigers to use their Greater Power as Luka tells him that it does nothing; Sousuke replies that now that they found a partner that everything would be fine because no matter how far you are, your partner will come running and that concept is the Go-onger's Greater Power. Using the Go-onger Keys again, they summon Machalcan and combine with him, creating Go-on Gokai-Oh, giving them the strength to take down Babacchiido once and for all. Ep. 36: Partner Pirate

The Power to Seize Dreams

After defeating the Zangyack over and over again, Marvelous asks Gai when he goes on about protecting the people if this is what he meant by protecting someone while thinking back to the day Basco betrayed the Akaki Pirates and how AkaRed protected him. Just then, they learn of a Zangyack attack and proceed to handle the situation when Joe sees Barizorg leading the charge. Joe insists on fighitng him alone as Marvelous and the rest of his crew deal with the forces as two Dogorims arrive stating that they are the Royal Guard. Marvelous and the rest of the Gokaigers Gokai Change into the Extra Heroes using the Ranger Keys they got from Basco a while back (with Marvelous becoming Wolzard Fire) and proceed to defeat the Dogorims. Just then, Warz Gill arrives in the Empire's most powerful mecha, the Great Waltz and proceeds to defeat the Gokaigers. Just as when hope seemed lost, Marvelous forced the other Gokaigers to eject as he stayed behind, thinking that was his way of protecting him. Ep. 37: The Strongest Fighting Machine

As the Galleon crashes into a valley, Marvelous lies on the ground as if near death. Just then, he sees a vision of AkaRed, asking him if what he did was protecting them. AkaRed then ask him if this is really protecting them or maybe there was another way. Eventually, Marvelous reunites with the Gokaigers and resumes battle with Warz Gill in the Great Walz. The Gokaigers still seem to have trouble but refuse to give up, stating that they will grab their dreams and not be stopped. Just then, the Gokaigers' Ranger Keys, even Gai's light up. Wondering if this was their Greater Power, they used their Ranger Keys together, the result being the combination of Gokai-Oh, Goujyujin, and Machalacon, Kanzen Gokai-Oh. They overwhelm Warz Gill and destroy the Great Waltz, finally ending the battle and resuming their hunt for the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, armed with a new resolve and their new power. Ep. 38: The Power to Seize Dreams

Megaranger

Following the death of Warz Gill at the hands of the Gokaigers, the Zangyack increased the bounties of the space pirates — with Captain Marvelous' head set to an "Unlimited Reward" which means that anyone can name their own price. Aboard the Gokai Galleon, Navi's latest navigation fortune involved Moroboshi High School, which Gai immediately identifies as the school where the Megarangers attended. Though Gai explains that the Megarangers have long graduated from Moroboshi High, the crew decided to investigate nonetheless. Upon arriving at the high school, they met Kenta Date, the former Mega Red who is now a teacher at the school. Overhearing them talking about school, Kenta tells the crew that in order to obtain his team's Greater Power, they must become students for the day. While at the school, Marvelous helped out a basketball team who dreamed of winning the nationals.

Kenta spotted Sally and followed it to the forest. Gai, suspecting something is up, followed him. Kenta was confronted by Basco, who had come to steal the Greater Power of the Megarangers. Gai shown up to protect Kenta just as Basco reveals that he has planted multiple time bombs in Moroboshi High which will go off in 10 minutes unless Kenta surrenders the Greater Power to him. Having overheard the conversation over the Gokai Cellular, Captain Marvelous told Kenta not give in to the privateer's demands. While Gokai Silver was stalling, the rest of the Gokaigers were aided by Kenta's Digiken students in locating the bombs all over the school with the other students' help. However, Basco defeated Gokai Silver before he proceeded to take the Great Power from Kenta. Gokai Silver used the Gosei Knight Key to use a Defense Gosei Card against the attack before the other Gokaigers arrive on the scene, revealing that they used the Timeranger Keys to freeze-compress the bombs. As Kenta returned to the school, the Gokaigers change into the Megarangers. Gokai Red and Silver took on Basco, while the others fight Sally. As the battle went on, they managed to beat Sally hard, and they prepared to finish it off. However, Basco stepped in and blocked the Gokai Supernova and Slash attack before unleashing the Pseudo-Lifeforms Woodroid Moririn and Soilroid Dororin from the space monkey's body and carrying his pet to safety. After using Magi Gokaioh and Fuuraimaru to weaken Dororin and Moririn, they formed Kanzen Gokaioh to destroy the two Pseudo-Lifeforms. As the day comes to an end, Kenta fulfilled his end of the deal by giving the Great Power of the Megarangers to the Gokai Galleon crew as their "diplomas". The pirates then took their leave as Gai tried to talk them into sticking around for dinner with Kenta. Ep. 39: Why? We're High School Students

October 2, 2010

As the Gokaigers had lunch, Goujyu Drill makes an unexpected appearance. After investigating his mecha's bridge, Gai finds a Time Emblem containing a video message from Domon, the Timerangers' Time Yellow. He tells the Gokaigers to travel back in time to October 2, 2010, to protect the currently destroyed Negakure Temple as it will lead them to another Great Power. He also warns them not to interact with anyone in the past as it might cause some complications. They accept Domon's request, using the Time Yellow Key to take Goujyu Drill into the past. Arriving to the temple, the Gokai Galleon crew find a young boy about to be attacked by the Strengthened Nanashi Company. The group assumes they are responsible for the future destruction of the temple with Gai protecting the boy as the rest transform and chase after the Strengthened Nanashi when they are called for. Eventually, the Gokaigers spot the Goseigers and Shinkengers during their battle with Buredoran of Chimatsuri's army of Nanashi and Bibis. They then notice Shitari of the Bones gathering the Strengthened Nanashi, planning to ambush the two Super Sentai, deciding to return the favor to the teams for giving them their Great Powers in the future by destroying him and his forces. Back at the temple, Gai tries to take the boy home before learning the boy ran away from home due to his mother being a journalist who moves them around before the boy can make friends. Gai tells the boy that he was like him when he was little, always moving due to his own parents, but he always made friends in each place and despite knowing he might move, he would always have friends everywhere. He encourages the boy to make do with his situation and look forward to tomorrow. By then, the Matroid Zan-KT0 of the Shot arrives to destroy the temple under orders from Metal-A of the Agent to acquire the large energy presence detected inside. Gokai Silver fights Zan-KT0 before the other Gokaigers show up to deal with their true target by weakening him with the Timeranger Keys before defeating him with the Gokai Galleon Buster and the Gokai Legendream. However, Metal-A notices this and uses the newly gained Bibi Bugs to enlarge Zan-KT0 to gather data on the Gokaigers. However, after Zan-KT0 is destroyed by Goujyujin, Metal-A decides to leave as improvement on the Zan-KT schematics is more vital for the Matrintis Empire to eliminate the Goseigers. The Gokaigers meet with the boy's mother and the boy, whose name is revealed to be Mirai Moriyama, thanks Gai for his words as the crew take a group picture of the temple with Mirai and his mother. As the Gokaigers return to the present, they realize they never received the hint to the Great Power which appears to be related to a strange bottle that is located inside the temple. In the future, Domon checks inside Goujyu Drill to finds his Time Emblem, along with a letter from Gai holding the group photo. Though disappointed that they interacted with the past, Domon is shocked when he recognizes the woman as his girlfriend, Honami Moriyama, and is moved to tears when he realizes Mirai is the son he never knew of. Ep. 40: The Future is the Past

Something I Don't Want to Lose

On the Gigant Horse, wondering what their next course should be, Damarasu and Insarn receive an unexpected visit from the Zangyack Imperial Fleet as the Zangyack Emperor Akudos Gill arrives to the bridge. As news of his son's death has reached him, Akudos has decided to assume command while having his Imperial Guards take Damarasu to the brig for failing in his mission as he then sends the Imperial Guard Zatsurigu to avenge his son. On Earth, while grocery shopping with Gai and Joe, Ahim sees Zatsurigu and attacks him without warning. Astonished, the two quickly attempt to join the fight before all three are defeated and Zatsurigu leaves to take a drink. Later on the Gokai Galleon, Joe and Gai tell what happened as Doc advises they go into hiding. This notion causes Ahim to remember destruction of her home planet Famille and her parents' deaths at the hands of Zatsurigu. Knowing what she must do, and grateful for what the Gokaigers have done for her, Ahim decides to leave the Gokai Galleon in the dead of night to avenge her parents' death. However, the others expect that Ahim would leave and explain to her that she is going out on what is effectively a suicide mission. As she breaks down in tears, Captain Marvelous reminds Ahim of when she joined the Gokai Galleon crew and how she wished to give hope to the other survivors of Famille and other destroyed worlds while telling her that they will be there for her. The next day, the Gokaigers face Zatsurigu with Gokai Pink leading the attack as the Imperial Guard overpowers them with his telekinetic powers. Changing plans once everyone realizes Zatsurigu's method of attack, the others hold him off so Gokai Pink can take the Imperial Guard's eye out to disable his powers. From there, Gokai Pink uses the Go-on Wings Ranger Keys with Gokai Silver followed by the Goraiger Keys with Gokai Green, before transforming into Gosei Pink alongside Gokai Yellow as Gosei Yellow, Deka Swan with Gokai Blue becoming Deka Master, and finally Princess Shinken Red with Gokai Red as Shinken Red. She then uses the Gokai Galleon Buster (using Pink Charge instead of the usual Red Charge) to finish Zatsurigu off. Zatsurigu is then enlarged as Goujyujin holds him off so Gokaioh can summon Machalcon and form Kanzen Gokaioh to destroy the Imperial Guard. Later, the crew takes a breather as Ahim thanks them for helping her avenge her planet's destruction while a bit confused when Captain Marvelous's reasons for helping are brought up. Back on the Gigant Horse, Damarasu is livid in the brig as he awaits whatever punishment is in store for him. Ep. 41: Something I Don't Want to Lose

The Legendary Hero, Don Dogoier

After watching his forces defeated by the Gokaigers, Akudos agrees to Insarn's pleas of giving Damarasu another chance. Upon hearing this, Damarasu breaks from confinement by himself and before setting off to confront the pirates, he confronts Basco ta Jolokia for not killing the Gokaigers when he had the chance, but he offers to spare the privateer's life in return for his help. Aboard the Gokai Galleon, the crew is shocked to find Doc in a magazine, labeled as a hero who was said to have died defeating the an evil planet-eating dragon. Doc apologizes for lying that he was a refugee from a Zangyack planet while admitting that he has no memory of doing such a thing. In hopes of regaining his memory, Doc dines at a fancy restaurant with Luka, Gai, and Ahim where the story of how he joined the Gokai Galleon crew is revealed. Soon after, on their way to find dessert, the pirates are attacked by Damarasu as Captain Marvelous and Joe arrive, the latter recognizing their foe. Transforming to fight him, the Gokaigers find themselves outmatched as Damarasu lives up to his reputation as the Zangyack Empire's greatest warrior. They attempt to fall back, but Basco and Sally block their only escape route. As the others are taken out by Basco and Sally, Gokai Red is defeated by Damarasu. Basco then incinerates the others as Doc is knocked aside with Damarasu taking Captain Marvelous to have him executed, while Basco takes his Mobilate and Ranger Key. Left alone, Doc is horrified that his shipmates are killed and his captain is in mortal danger. Ep. 42: The Strongest Man in the Universe

Captain Marvelous is delivered to Akudos Gill aboard the Gigant Horse and although both Damarasu and Dairando are ready to kill him there and then Gill decides that Marvelous should be given a public execution on Earth. On the Gokai Galleon, Doc is distraught over the loss of his friends and admits to Navi that he made up the magazine article that portrayed him as a hero as a joke. As he remembers when Captain Marvelous first gave him his Mobilate, a message from Damarasu comes over the monitor announcing Marvelous's execution and the later subjugation of Earth. Basco then turns up with Sally in order to watch, and reveals to Marvelous that he has acquired the Great Powers of Sun Vulcan and the Fiveman (bringing his total up to five) as well as intending to steal the twenty-eight that the Gokaigers have collected after Marvelous's death. Doc is ready to give up claiming he can't defeat Damarasu although he wants to, and Navi reminds him of when he first came aboard and learnt how to fight in his own way and how the team always covered for each other. With that, Doc is inspired and arrives on Earth just before Marvelous is executed. While Doc holds off the Gormin, Navi arrives and frees Marvelous which is noticed by Basco who does nothing to stop her. After Marvelous is freed, Doc admits he hasn't thought any further ahead when suddenly Joe, Luka, Ahim and Gai turn up and reveal they were saved from Basco's attack by Sally. Damarasu realises he's been betrayed too late as he is literally stabbed in the back by Basco. After taunting Damarasu that he should not have underestimated Doc, he leaves assuring the Gokaigers he only helped them so they can collect the last two Great Powers. After changing, the Gokaigers defeat the Gormin with an all-green Gokai Change (consisting of Midorenger, Denzi Green, Green Flash, Shishi Ranger, Shurikenger Fire Mode, and Shinken Green) before defeating Damarasu with the Gokai Galleon Buster led by Doc. He is then enlarged by Insarn, and proves more than a match for Gokaioh and Goujyujin however Doc assures everyone they can win. Summoning Magi Dragon, Pat Striker, Gao Lion, Fuuraimaru and Machalcon, the Gokaigers form Kanzen Gokaioh and hit Damarasu with the Gokai Kanzen Super Burst which finally destroys him. Aboard the Gokai Galleon, the Gokaigers enjoy dinner as Doc apologizes for his joke. However the others assure him he truly is a hero before asking for seconds. Ep. 43: To the Legendary Hero

Christmas present

Merry Christmas, Captain Marvelous
Captain Marvelous smiles at the glowing Ranger Keys of Battle Fever J, discovering he has been given their greater power as a Christmas present.

On the Gigant Horse, Akudos Gill decides to hold the invasion back until the problem with the pirates is solved, and Dairando decides to bring Action Commander Bibabu to Earth. After Damarasu's demise, Doc's bounty is increased and Navi gets a small bounty on his head, as well, but the rest of the team is still wondering about the true intentions of Basco, who was put back on the wanted list for helping them against the Zangyack. Gai chimes in to remind them that Christmas is coming and he takes Luka to help him with the preparations. Gai and Luka stumble on a Santa Claus, accompanied by a panda, who refuses to give any presents to her, much to her dismay, and they find sister and brother Saya and Seiji Kinoshita who are decorating a Christmas tree in the park with for group of children. Luka and Gai help out until Dairando and Bibabu appear. Bibabu uses his magic wand to turn their targets into dolls. During the fight, both Seiji and Gai are turned into dolls, just as the other Gokaigers appear to fight Bibabu. While as the Kakurangers, they attempt to take Bibabu's wand and use a spell to turn everyone back to normal, but Dairando joining the fray foils their plans. Later, Luka consoles Saya who is worried about her little brother, and she promises that she will save him as she comes up with her own plan. She goes after Bibabu on her own, but her attempt appears to fail when Bibabu turns her into a doll. However, this is revealed to only be a distraction to allow Saya to use Luka's Mobilate and Ranger Key to transform into Gokai Yellow, retrieve the wand and turn everyone back to normal. With the team gathered, and Luka given her Mobilate back, the Gokaigers transform into an all Yellow team, consisting of Tiger Ranger, Kirin Ranger, Gao Yellow, Hurricane Yellow, Bouken Yellow, and Gosei Yellow to fight Dairando and Bibabu's Dogomin before the main team transforms into the Battle Fever J team, and Gokai Silver manages to combine Gokai Red and Gokai Green's Ranger Keys to transform into Gokai Christmas, to take on Dairando and Bibabu, ultimately destroying Bibabu and leading to Dairando's retreat. Insarn makes Bibabu and the two Dogomin grow to giant size, leading the Gokaigers to form Gokaioh and Goujyu Rex to fight them. After using Magi Dragon, Gao Lion, and Fuuraimaru against Bibabu, the group forms Kanzen Gokaioh to defeat Bibabu once and for all. Later, the Gokai Galleon crew joins in the park's Christmas celebration with Luka using the powers of Magi Mother to make it snow. Unbeknownst to them, the Santa Claus from earlier was actually the former Battle Kenya, Shiro Akebono, and he has been watching them the whole time to see if they were worthy. When the Gokaigers return to the Gokai Galleon after the Christmas party, Navi tells them they have gotten a gift, which they discover when the Battle Fever Keys start glowing, signifying that they have earned the team's Great Power. Ep. 44: A Lovely Christmas Eve

Ninjaman

Marvelous entertains Ninjaman
Marvelous prepares to entertain Ninjaman so he will give him the greater power of the Kakurangers.

On the Gokai Galleon, the crew review their twenty-eight powers they obtained and the five that Basco has taken. When they realize one of the Great Powers is missing, Gai reveals that the only one yet to be found is that of the Ninja Sentai Kakuranger team. With it being his last fortune, Navi's only clue is saying "a ninja is playing hide and seek", which makes no sense to the Gokaigers. When Ahim mentions praying at a shrine to better their chances, the crew remembers their meeting with Domon and the mission he gave them to save the Negakure Shrine, which they realize has the same characters as "kakure". Upon returning to the shrine, the crew searches the grounds while Captain Marvelous enters the shrine and finds a strange pot that seems to be speaking and asking to be freed. He takes it for his crew to examine when Ahim uses a mallet to break it open, releasing Ninjaman. Identifying himself as the Kakurangers' ally, Ninjaman proceeds to reveal how he was sealed in the pot, again, a decade ago. Having no idea what happened in the world while he was sealed, and worried why the Three God Generals did not release him once his sentence ended, Gai informs Ninjaman of the Legend War that happened in his absence and the sacrifice that the Kakurangers made along with the other Super Sentai teams. Ninjaman takes this hard as Ahim, Doc, and Gai advise Captain Marvelous, Joe, and Luka to be subtle in getting the Great Power from Ninjaman while cheering him up. During their attempt, Ninjaman learns of the second Zangyack Empire invasion occurring at the moment and how the Gokai Galleon crew are fighting them as the Gokaigers with the powers of the previous Super Sentai teams. After showing him how the Ranger Keys work, Ninjaman gets pumped up as Captain Marvelous tells him of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe and how they can obtain it by obtaining the Great Powers of the Super Sentai teams. As the sun sets, Ninjaman learns of Basco ta Jolokia how he can steal Great Powers before the Gokaigers ask him to give the Kakurangers' Great Power to them so they can fulfill their dream. However, due to his history with humans, Ninjaman refuses but decides to stay on board and help fight the Zangyack Empire to see if he can trust the pirates completely. But as Captain Marvelous, Luka, and Joe do not take it well, Tsuruhime watches them from afar and is impressed that they have managed to find Ninjaman. She decides to let Ninjaman guide the Gokaigers on their way before she leaps off into the rising moon in the horizon. Ep. 45: The Confused Ninja

After watching the Gokai Galleon crew for over a week, Ninjaman decides to train the pirates in the basics of being a Super Sentai team. With only Doc, Ahim, and Gai going through with it, Ninjaman deems only them worthy of the Kakurangers' Great Power before sensing a strange presence. He and the others discover Action Commander Juju as he summons two Zugormin to fight them before Gokai Red, Gokai Blue, and Gokai Yellow arrive. After firing darts into Gokai Green and Gokai Silver, Juju is forced to retreat after failing to hit Gokai Red. Soon after, while having lunch, Doc and Gai suddenly start acting crazy and they go out to fight. Ahim follows them as Ninjaman follows in a huff after seeing Captain Marvelous and the others show no concern. Ahim and Ninjaman find many other people acting crazy before finding Doc and Gai fighting each other before assuming their Gokaiger forms as they attempt to stop them. But in a gambit, Ahim ends up taking the two's blows as she manages to snap Gokai Green and Gokai Silver out of their madness. By that time, having Navi analyze his Gokai Saber for Juju's mind-altering dart, Gokai Red and the others find the Action Commander's base and they attempt to destroy the crystal ball he is using to control people. However, Juju swallows the crystal ball to ensure that his spell over the humans continues. Contacted by Navi, the others arrive to their shipmates' aid against Juju as they use the Sun Vulcan Keys to defeat some of the Gormin. After apologizing for underestimating them, Ninjaman joins the Gokaigers as they use the Kakuranger Keys to fight Juju and the Gormin while Gokai Silver assumes Gold Mode to defeat the Zugormin. After being hit by the Gokai Galleon Buster, ensuring his spell is broken, Insarn enlarges Juju as Gokaioh and Goujyujin are formed to fight him. However, Juju overpowers them before the Kakuranger Keys emerge as Ninjaman tells them to use his team's Great Power: which turns out to be himself. Ninjaman battles Juju before Kanzen Gokaioh is formed to deliver the final blow. Later, after deciding to find the Three God Generals, Ninjaman summons his cloud to take his leave until the Gokaigers need him once more. Knowing that they need the five Great Powers in his possession, the Gokai Galleon crew know that they must fight Basco to achieve their goal to get the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. Ep. 46: Hero Eligibility

Gavan

One night, the Gokai Galleon was suddenly attacked by a mysterious vessel before crashing into the bay. The Gokaigers (sans Gai, who was sent off to buy dinner for them before this incident) confronted the ship's sole occupant, the legendary Space Sheriff Gavan, who quickly defeated and apprehended them - despite their protests that the Special Police Dekaranger cleared them of all charges claimed by the Space Empire Zangyack. Retsu Ichijouji delivers his prisoners to Space Police Chief Weeval, who revealed himself as Chief of Makuu Prison Ashurada, a member of the Zangyack Empire and descendant of Don Horror. After revealing his capture of the Gokaigers as a ploy to expose Chief Weeval's true motives, Retsu freed the crew by remotely unlocking their handcuffs, saving them from the firing squad before telling them to leave the premises. In the midst of the battle, the salute given by Retsu triggered a flashback in Captain Marvelous' mind. The GouJyu Drill arrives at the scene to pick up the Gokaigers while Gavan was captured by Ashurada and his creation Gavan Bootleg before they disappeared into Makuu Space.

Back aboard the Gokai Galleon, Captain Marvelous revealed to his crew that ten years ago, he stowed away in a freight ship that was attacked by the Zangyack Empire. There, he met Retsu, who encouraged him to be brave and jump off the burning stairway to his arms. It is because of this incident that Captain Marvelous is a fearless pirate. After receiving a phone call from Basco, the Gokai Galleon crew met up with the privateer, who told them that Gavan is locked up on the top floor of Makuu Prison - the worst prison in the universe, and warned them not to go there to rescue the Space Sheriff, for no one has escaped in the prison's 2,600-year existence. Shortly after Basco left, the crew meet Shiro Akebono/Battle Kenya and Daigorou Oume/DenziBlue, who know Retsu personally (other than the fact that all three men look alike). The two former Super Sentai warriors reveal that the Gokaigers can use their Ranger Keys to open a portal to Makuu Space. Using the two keys, the crew travel to Makuu Space, where they break into Makuu Prison. There, they encountered a collection of former enemies of various Super Sentai teams, who have been locked up in the prison cells by the Zangyack Empire. The ruckus between the crew and the imprisoned former villains resulted in a platoon of Gormin Soldiers storming into the ground floor. Gokai Blue and Gokai Silver deal with the platoon while the other Gokaigers race to the top floor and the former villains are released from their cells. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Basco and Sally make their way toward the unguarded Gokai Galleon to steal the Gokai Treanger Box, but they are forced to retreat upon encountering the Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.

Ashurada has Gavan Bootleg activate Makuu City to slow down the Gokaigers' flight to the top floor by sending them to different dimensions. Gokai Yellow and Gokai Green battle and defeat Sneak Brothers Elder & Sister, while Gokai Red and Gokai Pink fend off Monsu Doreiku, Kinggon and Robogorg before Gokai Red reaches the top floor. There, he engages Gavan Bootleg into an intense sword and gun fight. During the fight, Captain Marvelous uses his Gokai Gun and Gavan Bootleg's Laser Z Beam to fire shots that ricochet off their swords and destroy the shackles on Retsu, freeing the Space Sheriff. After Gokai Red rescues Retsu, the Gokaigers shoot holes on the floors for them to drop back to the ground floor before using the Gokai Galleon Buster to destroy the prison and returning back to Earth. Upon their return, they battle Ashurada, Gavan Bootleg and their Zangyack army. Gavan faces and destroys his doppelgänger with the Gavan Dynamic while the Gokaigers finish off Ashurada with the Gokai Blast and Slash Final Wave. Ashurada, however, resurrects himself as a giant, prompting the heroes to summon their mecha. Kanzen Gokaioh docks with Electronic Starbeast Dol and both mecha weaken Ashurada with the Dol Gokai Fire before Gavan and Gokai Red destroy him once and for all with the Gavan Marvelous Dynamic.

Before the crew and Retsu bid farewell to each other, Retsu was reunited with Shiro and Daigorou when a voice in the sky asks the three veteran heroes to demonstrate their transformation poses to the crew. With Shiro and Daigoro borrowing their respective Ranger Keys, the trio change into their Sentai forms, prompting Gai to run to them and ask for their autographs. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Uchuu Keiji Gavan: The Movie

The Fated Showdown

The time has come for the Gokaigers to confront Basco ta Jolokia to claim the five remaining Great Powers in his possession. Instead of looking for his ship, Captain Marvelous contacts him with his Mobilate to arrange a meeting, but the former privateer launches a surprise attack on them instead using his two remaining Giant Pseudo-Lifeforms, Goldroid Geronpa and Sunroid Solar. Despite that Basco runs out of options after he witness both being defeated by Kanzen Gokaioh. When the pirates turn their attention to Basco, they are surprised to see him attacking his own crewmate Sally, before leaving him severely injured on the ground. Marvelous decides to let the monkey aboard the Gokai Galleon to be treated, but Joe warns him that this probably is part of another of Basco's schemes, and the Captain states that even as part of a plan, attacking a companion is an unforgivable act. Later that night, Sally has second thoughts regarding Basco's orders to take advantage of the situation and grab the pirates' treasure chest for him, but he ends up doing it anyway. Sally comes to Basco and almost hands the chest to him just to find that the Gokaigers were following him and after realizing that the chest he carries is actually empty, he asks him to rejoin him, but Marvelous and the others convince him to stay by their side after he was so cruel with him. Predicting Sally's change of heart, Basco detonates the bomb he planted on a necklace he gave to him, having the monkey instantly killed and Marvelous injured and unconscious. Angry at Basco for sacrificing his own companion, the other Gokaigers launch themselves against him using the Ranger Keys of the Dairangers, Hurricangers and Gingamen, but are also defeated by him. While scanning for the pirates' whereabouts, Navi is surprised by Basco who boards the Gokai Galleon branding the Gokaiger Ranger Keys and easily subdues the robot. While the Gokaigers still lie unconscious on the ground, Basco is seen sitting in Marvelous' chair laughing triumphantly after seizing their ship, 34 of the Great Powers, all of the Ranger Keys, and Navi. Ep. 47: The Limits of Betrayal

In the rain, Joe wakes up his shipmates as they gather around the wounded Captain Marvelous, apologizing to them for both their Ranger Keys and the Gokai Galleon being taken by Basco. Taking Captain Marvelous to an abandoned church, the crew learns that Captain Marvelous never learned what the Greatest Treasure in the Universe is or cared what it is so long as it was something no pirate has ever obtained before. Luka gets a call from Navi who has been hiding in the bridge, giving them them the location of the Gokai Galleon. Learning that Basco has placed the ship on lockdown, the crew assure their captain that they will take back the Gokai Galleon. Once inside, the pirates burst into one of the lower decks and split up to find Navi. However, the two groups end up facing their respective Ranger Keys which Basco animated to also track down the bird. They manage to defeat the Ranger Keys, allowing the pirates assume their Gokaiger forms to find Navi just as he is brought to Basco so he can proceed to use him. Admitting how impressed he is with their meddling, Basco sends the Gokaigers outside as he has the Gokai Red Key fight them. Upon defeating the Gokai Red Key with the powers of five red Sentai heroes, the Gokaigers use the Gokai Galleon Buster on Basco before he deflects the blast back at them and takes their Ranger Keys, again. Before he can kill them, despite his injuries, Captain Marvelous arrives to finish things with Basco. Though Basco tries to waver his resolve by revealing that Aka Red is from Earth and was gathering the Ranger Keys just to bring them to his home world to protect it, he sees Captain Marvelous will not budge from his dream nonetheless and accepts the challenge, acknowledging him as Captain Marvelous. They have a fierce battle until Gokai Red stabs their feet together to hold Basco still as the two exchange one final blow before being knocked out, but Basco realizes his shot was blocked by a piece of the bomb he put in Sally while he suffers a fatal wound and perishes soon after. Captain Marvelous reclaims his crew's Ranger Keys before collapsing out of exhaustion. Though the others are concerned, their captain points out that they have the all of the Great Powers and can finally begin their search for the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. Ep. 48: The Fated Showdown

The Greatest Treasure in the Universe

Despite his body having still not fully recovered from his showdown with Basco, Captain Marvelous states the time has come for the Gokaigers to claim the Greatest Treasure of the Universe. However, Gai is worried about using the Greater Powers that were stolen by Basco without the approval of their original owners. Suddenly, they are enveloped by a blinding light and before them appear Takayuki Hiba of Sun Vulcan, Sho Hayate of the Changemen, Dai of the Flashmen, Akira of the Maskmen, and Remi Hoshikawa of the Fivemen who revealed that they have watched over the Gokaigers during their travels and thus consider them worthy of their Greater Powers.

Marvelous gets the Greatest Treasure

Meanwhile at the Gigant Horse, the Zangyack Empire's forces prepared a massive armada to conquer the Earth once and for all. Dyrandoh remindd Insarn that once the invasion is complete, she would be punished for failing to protect Warz Gill, but Akudos Gill offered one final chance for her to redeem herself. Back on the Gokai Galleon, the Gokaigers were surprised to see Navi transforming into a door, remembering about Basco's comment about it actually being the door to the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, and they used the red heroes' keys of each of the other 34 Super Sentai teams to unlock it. Passing through the door, the pirates find themselves in a cave at the center of Earth that leads to an altar displaying the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. After putting their hands on the Treasure, they hear a voice that introduces itself as the Will of the Planet who communicates with them through it, informing them that they now hold the power to reshape the universe as they see fit. They think about using it to create a universe free of the Zangyack Empire, having their home worlds and the important people they lost returned to them. The Gokaigers return to the Gokai Galleon, but just as they are about to activate the Treasure, they are informed that by using its power, the power of the other Super Sentai teams will vanish as well and history will be rewritten as if they never existed.

Still wondering about what they should do, they are attacked by Insarn piloting her own robot, the Great Insarn assisted by some enlarged Zugormin. Leaving Gai to deal with the Zugormin in Goujyujin, the rest of the team confront Insarn by themselves in Gokaioh. The Great Insarn manages to reflect Fuuraimaru's attacks with its defenses, but Gokaioh manages to break through them using the Gokai Power Bazooka attack with the Great Power of the Changemen and then damage it with the Gokai Aura Galaxy, performed with the Great Power of the Maskmen, before finishing it off with Shinken Gokaioh. Having her robot destroyed, Insarn launches herself at the Gokaigers with the help of some Dogomin sent by Dairando. But the Gokaigers use the Vul Eagle, ChangeGriffon, Green Flash, Blue Mask, and Five Yellow Ranger Keys to easily dispose of the Dogomin before finishing off Insarn with the Gokai Galleon Buster. Having disposed of the Zugormin, Gai joins the crew in their celebration before it is cut short when the Zangyack Empire, having sent Insarn just to buy some time for them, starts attacking with a fleet even larger than the one used during the Legend War, and the Emperor declares that he intends to destroy the space pirates and wipe out Earth's people. Ep. 49: The Greatest Treasure in the Universe

Endgame

The Gokaigers boarded Gokaioh and Goujyujin to face the massive Zangyack Empire's invading fleet, but despite making full use of the Great Powers, both were defeated, and Akudos Gill made a statement to the people of Earth that by sunrise of the next day, the world's entire population will be annihilated by his forces. Hurt and scattered, the space pirates split up and wandered through the city helping those who are suffering from the invasion. Marvelous saw a familiar boy once again holding his own against several Gormin using Kendo. He recalls that he was the one who'd stolen the Shinken Red key before and managed to lay waste to several Gormin on his own then as well. Before one of the Gormin could get the jump on him from behind, Marvelous shot it, saving the boy from an inevitable hit.

Reunited at the wrecked Gokai Galleon with the others, Gai tried to convince them to make use of the Treasure to erase the Zangyack, but much to his surprise, they did not agree with him, claiming that using the Treasure would not only erase the Super Sentai from history, but also take from the people of Earth the hope and courage that they learned from them. However, they left the final decision at his hands, and Gai ultimately destroyed the Treasure with the Gokai Spear. The next day comes and Dyrandoh marched forward with an army of Gormin, Zugormin, and Dogomin to start his extermination campaign, but was stopped by the Gokaigers who claim that they will face him not only as pirates, but as a Super Sentai protecting the Earth. Having met Sharma Tribe Knight Goushi some time before, Gai became DragonRanger and gave Marvelous his shield, turning him into Armed TyrannoRanger, which swiftly destroyed the Dogormin. After disposing of Dyrandoh's reinforcements, the Gokaigers launched themselves against him. Ep. 50: The Day of Battle

Charging Dyrandoh head on, the Gokaigers battled the Imperial Guardsman before the Imperial fleet arrived to commence the total destruction of the city. However, Navi arrived in the Free Joker to hold off the fleet as Captain Marvelous and Gai used it to make a beeline towards the Gigant Horse while Joe and the others dealt with Dyrandoh. Once inside, Gokai Red and Gokai Silver battled their way through the Gormin Soldiers before reaching the bridge where Akudos Gill admitted how impressed he was that they have made it this far, but still intended to kill the pirates. As Gokai Silver held Akudos Gill off, Gokai Red took control of the Gigant Horse and used its armaments to wipe out the entire Zangyack fleet. Akudos Gill got serious as he overpowered the two pirates before they damaged the controls and stab him onto them before the Gigant Horse crashed. The others arrive to find Captain Marvelous and Gai all right before Akudos Gill appeared, having survived the crash, still saying he will kill them all. However, with the power of the thirty-four Super Sentai teams behind them, the Gokai Galleon crew told him that he is facing an army and has made a grave error attacking the Earth as they transform. Using various Ranger Key combinations, the Gokaigers overwhelmed Akudos Gill before they become Super Rangers to weaken him further. However, no matter what attack they use, Akudos Gill refused to die until the Gokaigers fired the Gokai Galleon Buster at point blank range to finally destroy him. Final Ep.: Farewell Space Pirates

Departure

Months later, with the city being rebuilt and news of the Zangyack Empire dissolving, Marvelous finally got to have his lunch at the New Snack Safari. He told his crew about the second Greatest Treasure in the Universe, which is apparently located on the Zangyack homeworld. On their way to the repaired Gokai Galleon, the crew met up with the class of students they met when they first arrived and they tell them not to thank them for saving the world. But before they departed for the Zangyack homeworld to find the second Greatest Treasure, Captain Marvelous discarded the Ranger Keys and allows the previous Super Sentai teams to regain their powers. Among those regaining their powers was the first red hero Tsuyoshi Kaijou, becoming Akarenger once more as he hoped that the Gokaigers find what they are looking for. Final Ep.: Farewell Space Pirates

Super Hero Taisen

"I will destroy all riders!"
―Captain Marvelous as the Kamen Rider-hunting Emperor of Dai-Zangyack.[src]

Captain Marvelous betrays the Gokaigers and takes over Zangyack as he assumes the title as their emperor and renames it "Dai-Zangyack" (大ザンギャック Dai Zangyakku?), formed from the remnants of the dissolved Zangyack Empire and the conglomeration of all Super Sentai villains, in order to take down the Kamen Riders to obtain their Great Powers, and the Dai-Shocker group led by Tsukasa Kadoya/Kamen Rider Decade. With many revived Super Sentai villains under his command, Captain Marvelous plans to obtain the Great Power of the Kamen Riders to gain the "Ultimate Treasure in the Universe" (宇宙最高のお宝 Uchū Saikō no Otakara?). After the timeline was restored, Captain Marvelous turn against Dai-Zangyack who joins forces with Dai-Shocker to destroy Super Sentai and the Kamen Riders. Upon learning this, the Kamen Riders and the Super Sentai teams all join forces in order to stop their respective enemies once and for all. Marvelous leads his team against Bio Hunter Silva, and Kamen Rider OOO changes his medals into Ranger Keys for the Gokaigers to use. The group uses the GokaiGalleon Buster to finish off Silva. Go-Busters vs. Gokaiger

Captain Marvelous and the rest of the Gokaigers went to the Zangyack's homeworld until they were overrun. They had two choices. One was to die, or two was to join the Zangyack. The Gokaigers choose to join them. When they returned to Earth in a black Gokai-Galleon, the Go-Busters were sent to investigate and end up fighting the Gokaigers. During the fight, Gai comes and finds the Gokaigers and Go-Busters fighting and had no idea what was going on. Marvelous tells Gai to hand the Ranger Keys over and Gai reluctantly gives him the keys. The Gokaigers Gokai-Change twice and causes he Go-Busters to use Powered Custom. After the fight, Enter appears with the Phantom Ranger Keys, rare keys with mysterious powers until the keys resonate and create time holes sucking the Gokaigers and Go-Busters to different times.

Captain Marvelous and Hiromu continue to fight as Hiromu lectures Marvelous on joining the Zangyack. Marvelous reveals joining them was part of a plan and that they were only pretending to cooperate.

The Gokaigers wait at the Go-Busters' command center until it was fight time. The 11 rangers head to battle with Bacchus Gill. The rangers morph and fight. Waredonaiyer stays up on the black Gokai-Galleon. Marvelous and Hiromu jump up there and fought him. Waredonaiyer is pushed off the ship.

After a long battle, Bacchus Gill and Waredonaiyer grow to giant size. The rangers summon their mecha. With the gathering of the Phantom Ranger Keys, the keys transform into Megazord Keys, granting each of the rangers' mecha, a past mecha.

After the battle, Marvelous tells Hiromu that he admires the Go-Busters work and trusts them to protect Earth and calls them a true 36th Super Sentai.

During the credits, the Gokaigers are seen hanging out at the Go-Buster's command center.

Ranger Key

Gokai Red Ranger Key
The Gokai Red Ranger Key.
Greg CassellaAdded by Greg Cassella

The Gokai Red Ranger Key (ゴーカイレッドレンジャーキー Gōkai Reddo Renjā Kī?) is Captain Marvelous' personal Ranger Key which allows him to transform into Gokai Red. Whereas the keys of the 34 Sentai were created out of the sacrifice of their powers in the Great Legend War, the origin of the Gokaiger Ranger Keys is unknown, though it can be assumed AkaRed had a role in their creation.

As with the other Gokaiger Ranger Keys, this key is commonly used in the Gokaigers' Ranger Key-compatible arsenal and mecha for different functions and attacks.

This Ranger Key was turned into a Ranger puppet once, by Basco. After defeating their own Ranger Key puppets, the other five Gokaigers defeated the puppet Gokai Red Ranger Key, with Marvelous reclaiming his key shortly after.

Personality

Always sparkling, Captain Marvelous is a "wild man." He desires everything to be stimulating, and he is always curious. Once he sets his aims on a target, he moves forward without flinching, no matter what. Marvelous is the type to poke his head in where it does not belong, and he often brandishes his crew of 5 with unreasonable orders.

Though he is the team leader, Captain Marvelous is an unpredictable sort of character who does reckless things to satisfy his curiosity, stating his actions as what any pirate would do in that particular moment. He is much stronger than he looks, evidently seen in episode 7 where he throws darts while wearing a heavy bracelet that Don can barely carry with both hands. His strength is also displayed in a flashback in episode 12, where he rips the Zangyack tracking collar off Joe's neck. He also has a rather hearty appetite.

Marvelous is also someone who cares much for his crew and for others even if he doesn't show it. An example of this was when Basco captured his crew and he was having a hard time deciding what to do. Another example is when Gai asked to become a Gokaiger after his debut battle and Marvelous asked him what he would contribute to his crew. Despite this selfish reasoning, he was concerned with someone so young taking on the Zangyack. However, he does believe in his crew and doesn't worry about them when they are in a bind of their own.

Bounty

His bounty was initially at Z=1,000,000 when they met AhimEp. 41: Something I Don't Want to Lose and was increased to Z=1,500,000 before reaching Earth, but this is eventually raised to Z=3,000,000. Ep. 5: Judgement Pirates This is then raised even further to Z=5,000,000. Ep. 15: A Privateer Appears After the death of Warz Gill, he now has a "UNLIMITED" reward bounty on his head. Ep. 39: Why? We're High School Students

Behind the scenes

Portrayal

Ryota Ozawa and Hirofumi Fukuzawa
Marvelous' two actors: Ryota Ozawa and suit actor Hirofumi Fukuzawa.

Captain Marvelous is portrayed by Ryota Ozawa (小澤 亮太 Ozawa Ryota?). When he appeared as a child in Gokaiger vs. Gavan, he is portrayed by Tatsuomi Hamada (濱田 龍臣 Hamada Tatsuomi?). During an initial interview, Ozawa stated that the Sentai hero he wanted to become the most was AkaRenger.

In the Korean dub of Gokaiger entitled Power Rangers Captain Force, Captain Marvelous is voiced by Kim Seung-jun (김승준).

As Gokai Red, his suit actor is Hirofumi Fukuzawa (福沢 博文 Fukuzawa Hirofumi?), who was suit actor for several recent Sentai Reds, his previous role was Gosei Blue in Tensou Sentai Goseiger. Gokai Red is currently Hirofumi Fukuzawa's last suit role before serving as an action director on Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.

Dub names

In the Korean dub of Gokaiger entitled Power Rangers Captain Force, which aired in South Korea, Captain Marvelous as with the rest of the first five Gokaigers keeps his name (likely because they are not from Earth and thus don't have normal Japanese names), while his Ranger designation is Captain Red.

Etymology

  • Captain Marvelous' name is similar to Captain Marvel, a name tied to two comic companies which he has similarities to:
    • Like the Marvel of DC Comics, his color scheme is that of red and gold.
    • Like the original Captain Marvel of Marvel Comics, he is an alien who comes to Earth for his own purpose but ultimately comes to protect the planet.

Notes

  • While not the first alien Sentai hero, Marvelous is the first full-time alien Red Ranger. The only other notable alien Red of Earth in Sentai is Leonian Gyoku Rou of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, but he was of a period prior to Earth SPD using the typical Sentai battle suits and was only in four episodes at the end of the season.
  • Marvelous is the only male Gokaiger whose name consists of more than three letters.

Counterpart notes

Gokai Change notes

  • Throughout most of the season, Marvelous has used only Red Rangers. The only time he uses a different color is when the whole team joins in.
    • Notably, his first non-Red Gokai Change, Bouken Silver, has a bit of brilliance to it: Bouken Silver's main mecha is GoGo Fire/Siren Builder, where it is mainly red. It was also piloted by Bouken Red at one point in his native series.
  • Marvelous is the only Gokaiger who has never transformed into a Black Ranger.
  • Of the 5 core Gokaigers, Marvelous has had the least amount of non-core Ranger transformations.
