The Festival One-Shot Contest (お祭り一発勝負 Omatsuri Ippatsu Shōbu) is the twenty-fifth episode of Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. This episode introduces the unlucky Shida family and the bizarre mad scientist Kotaro Henna; as well as the newest Ohranger weapon: the Ole Bazooka.

Synopsis[]

The Ohranger must figure a way to deal with a pesky Machine Beast who has an unstoppable appetite for food and for festivities.

Plot[]

In a nice, quiet home, a family is celebrating the birthday of the father of the household; his wife giving him a special bottle of his favorite "Daiginjo" for a present that she permits him to drink today as a special treat. The doorbell rings which is answered by the son Yutaka, seeing a Machine Beast named Bara Hungry barge in proclaiming his hunger! Approaching the family, they run from him as it notices the birthday meal: it picks up a piece of sushi and declares how tasty it is. Bara Hungry soon devours the entire sushi platter as the family starts running, but the father is approached by the creature who continues to state it's hunger as he's forced to give it up much more sushi, buying and feeding it platter after platter but with it stating it isn't enough. The creature soon begins to eat the family's table including the legs; the daughter states they need to call the police but Bara Hungry eats that too, making them all scared for their life! Desperate, the father gives Bara Hungry his Daiginjo alcohol which it soon guzzles down making them give it as much sake as they have on hand. Later, the now drunk Bara Hungry accidentally turns on the TV seeing a festival where it starts dancing proclaiming that everyone dance with it, which the family is forced to do. As they dance, the quartet pick up household objects to hit Bara Hungry but fail to do nothing but annoy it before it eats the father's golf club and ultimately falling asleep.

However, an earthquake soon happens as a strange scientist with a searching device approaches the home and barges in. The weird man looks at the Machine Beast stating it must be a robot; opening it's suitcase, he pulls out a wrench and tries to undo it's bolts to no success, then saw at it; when the father asks who he is, Yutaka claims he is "Mr. Henna" (the strange old man), which he confirms with his revelation as Kotaro Henna, the robot researcher. The father gives his card which Henna looks over while the children wonder if he knows what he's doing as he suddenly tries and fails to both drill and hammer Bara Hungry open, causing him to be covered in a rainbow-colored mold.

The Ohranger soon arrive at the household where they check the damage, as the father states that Bara Hungry ate 100 servings of sushi and didn't have a wallet to pay for it, Gorou confirms Bara Hungry as a Machine Beast and states that even if he had money, he wouldn't pay, shocking the father about the added expense. Reporting back to Miura, the leader wonders why Bara Hungry would just barge into a random household with Gorou wondering if it has another purpose other than eating, making Miura state it has to be brought back to headquarters for detonation. Yuji discovers the mold-covered Henna, which Momo acknowledges that the mold could suffocate him leading them to perform a "Big Bang Cleaning" to remove it from his body. Once removed from his face, Henna sneezes leading to more items in the house to collapse.

Later, the Ohranger prepare to detonate Bara Hungry before Acha and Kocha discover him, fearing what could happen if the Machine Beast is destroyed! Acha sets on an alarm clock in the Machine Beast, waking it up as Bara Hungry escapes. Later, Acha tells Bara Hungry to not forget it's mission; but the Machine Beast claims that it's starting to like the human world and the concepts of family, food and the interesting events. Kocha wonders if Bara Hungry wants to join with humans as Acha reminds it of it's mission: to steal food from humanity by spreading rainbow mold across the country leading to the starvation and end of humans, mainly during this summer period which is ideal for mold spore spread. With it's mission once again set, Bara Hungry gods on the rampage, spreading it's mold across all food contaminating it, catching notice of Miura and the Ohranger back at base. Juri notices that her cake was contaminated by Bara Hungry as Momo claims she was supposed to be on a diet as OhYellow claims a slice of cake or two shouldn't be too bad for it, leading to OhPink chiding her lack of will. Quieting the female duo, he focuses them back on the main mission of stopping Bara Hungry.

Returning to Yutaka as their fridge is covered in rainbow mold, Gorou tries to get more information about the Machine Beast, but he's become so hungry that he can't think straight. Shouhei tries to focus him by way of thoughts of food but makes everyone hungry in the process making things worse. Yutaka remembers that Bara Hungry liked to dance and did so when it saw the festival music on TV, surprising Gorou. As the Machine Beast continues it's mission as it covers onigiri in rainbow mold, it soon hears the celebratory cheering of the Ohranger in disguise carrying a festival float of Ohranger Robo. Bara Hungry rushes to it but Henna appears to block it stating he wants to dissect the Machine Beast, but it declines covering him in rainbow mold again. The Ohranger's festival float soon confronts a similar float of Barlo Soldiers with Bara Hungry, leading to a confrontation where the two push and shove each other in combat; Momo and Juri kick the Barlo Soldiers forcing them down and forcing the minions and Ohranger into direct combat. Bara Hungry rampages through the Ohranger with ease; it then tries to eat OhRed, biting him before it withstands their King Smashers and fires it's own laser attack.

As the team falls, Miura appears proclaiming the start of the "Festival Plan"; the team soon untransforms and perform to make Bara Hungry dance to the music and forces the Barlo Soldiers to join him. Miura soon opens up a barrel of sake to force into competition; Bara Hungry soon decides to drink alongside him while declaring how great summer festivals are. Miura keeps feeding Bara Hungry more and more sake making it become drunk, allowing for the team to activate their new weapon to stop him: the Ole Bazooka; activating their Hyper Storage Crystals in the cannon, they charge them up and fire the weapon at the drunk Bara Hungry, weakening it. Acha and Kocha soon grow the Machine Beast, forcing them to activate Ohranger Robo; but the butler states they were waiting for this and orders Bara Hungry to use it's mold to rust the mecha! The spores cover the mecha forcing it incapacitated as Acha declares for Bara Hungry to eat it, making it bite the mecha over and over. Miura soon appears drumming on a taiko drum making the Machine Beast start dancing uncontrollably, giving Gorou the time to summon Red Puncher which fires its beams at Bara Hungry as OhRed frees the teammates. Fusing into Buster Ohranger Robo, the team finish Bara Hungry with the Big Cannon Burst, making it become an angelic ghost as it ascends to heaven!

Later, the Ohranger and Yutaka's family participate in a real festival while Henna starts chasing after Acha for his robot research.
