Chiaki Tani (谷 千明 Tani Chiaki) is Shinken Green (シンケングリーン Shinken Gurīn) of the Shinkengers. He serves in the next generation after his widowed father.
History[]
Shinkenger[]
Chiaki initially has no interest in being Takeru’s vassal and devote himself to him, unlike Ryunosuke and Kotoha. But as the series progresses, he warms up to his teammates and accepts Takeru as his leader.
He is a big Tekken fan as he often plays Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion.
As Chiaki and Kotoha are the youngest members of the Shinkengers, they share a strong bond. Several episodes focus on their friendship. In episode 6, Chiaki becomes upset that Kotoha readily believes that she is stupid, and accidentally hurts her feelings when he scolds her for it. He later apologizes for his outburst, and Kotoha confesses that she likes how he is straightforward. Since then, Chiaki and Kotoha have become close, each trying to cheer up the other in times of stress.
Out of the Shinkengers, Chiaki is shaken the most by the theft of Kotoha's soul. In a brash move, he attempts to recover it, by demanding the Ayakashi come out of the Sanzu River with his sword. He is even willing to become a Gedounin in order retrieve her soul.
Aside from Kotoha, Chiaki is also good friends with Genta as they are both free spirited young men.
After the final battle against the Gedoshu, Chiaki goes back to finish his final year of high school, since he had to leave his studies to join the Shinkengers.
Goseiger vs. Shinkenger[]
After being alerted that Dokoku has been revived, Chiaki arrived at the middle of the fight alongside with Takeru, Ryuunosuke and the Goseigers, the leader of Gedoshu is revealed to be Brajira, who captures Takeru and retreat alongside with Madakodama. They went back to Nozomu's house and alert Hikoma that Takeru has been taken and presumed that he has been taken into Sanzu River. Hyde explains that the person only calls himself a Gedoshu was Brajira. Ryuunosuke asked where did Brajira took Takeru, but they do not know as Alata suggested that they won't give up as it may work out. Chiaki then pulled Alata's collar for confusing him and Ryuunosuke by introducing themselves as Gosei Angels. Hikoma tried to calm Chiaki but the latter pushed Alata. Agri agrued with Chiaki because he thought that Chiaki was very mean to Alata. Ryuunosuke and Chiaki has to find Takeru but Hikoma asked them to wait and followed them.
Alata approached these two at the docks and said if they don't work together, then Takeru won't be saved and couldn't beat Brajira. Agri brings Eri and Mako to the docks and meet up. Moune, Hyde and Kotoha meets up with the team. A Fire Mojikara suddenly approached them and it is revealed to be a brainwashed Takeru who morphed into Gedou Shinken Red and attacks the Goseigers while Ryuunosuke asked him to stop, but didn't respond and leaving them on the ground after an explosion. The four Shinkengers watch in horror as Takeru turns to them. Kotoha tries to talk sense into him but to no avail. Takeru uses Kaen no mai on them, and they fall and he was about to use Rekka Daizontou to finish off his retainers, slamming the giant blade onto the concrete, sending a rush of fire to them. But Alata blocks them instead, and recieves some severe burns. Genta and Gosei Knight show up, retreating everyone.
While Alata is treated at Nozomu's house, Chiaki, Ryunosuke, Kotoha, Mako and Genta are all in grief about Takeru's brainwashing, but also the fact that Alata would save them from eternal defeat. TV STORY-Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs. Shinkenger: Epic on Ginmaku

Legend War[]
Months after wiping out the last of the Gedoshu, Chiaki fought alongside not only his own team, but every single Sentai Ranger in existence, against the Empire of Zangyack when it attacked the Earth in the Great Legend War. After fighting against hundreds of Gormin and their Sugormin commanders, Akarenger noticed the fleet moving towards them. He gathered all the Rangers together and gave them the order to sacrifice their powers to wipe out the first invasion's armada. 199 Hero Great Battle[]
Chiaki appeared in Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle alongside fellow Shinkenger Genta Umemori as part of the 35th anniversary team and he was the one who informed the Goseigers after the battle that all the teams had lost their powers. Both he and Genta appeared to the Gokaigers to support them; even though the Shinkenger Greater Power had previously been granted by Kaoru.
Farewell Space Pirates[]
After the defeat of Ackdos Gill, Captain Marvelous returned all the Ranger Keys to the former Sentai heroes. It is assumed Chiaki and his teammates received their keys, allowing for them to utilize their powers once again. TV STORY-Final Ep.: Farewell Space Pirates
Super Hero Taisen[]
Chiaki, alongside his team (Shinken Gold and Princess Shinken Red were absent), among the majority of the Super Sentai heroes, was caught up in the "Super Hero Taisen" incident which eventually resulted in the Super Sentai teams and Kamen Riders joining forces to defeat both Dai-Zangyack and Dai-Shocker. Ironically, the Shinkengers were acquainted with the Great Leader of Dai-Shocker, Tsukasa Kadoya, also known as Kamen Rider Decade, having encountered him before when he visited their world. The five-man Shinkenger team was part of a force of Sentai and Rider reinforcements led by Akarenger and Kamen Rider #1 that came to assist the Sentai and Riders of recent years who were overwhelmed by the revived monster army of the Space Crime Syndicate Madou. The combined forces of superheroes were able to turn the tide against the Madou army. They lined up and used their various finisher attacks to destroy the revived monsters.
After Demon King Psycho was destroyed and the battle was finally over, the Shinkengers appeared standing on a cliff with all the other heroes who appeared to help, to say goodbye to the heroes of recent years before taking their leave. Personality[]
Chiaki is weaker than the other Shinkengers, and seen as immature and a rebel because he abandoned his training early and would rather hang out at the local game center than restart his training. Because of his rebellious behavior, he often gets scolded by Takeru, Hikoma and Ryunosuke. Regardless of his short temper, he is cheerful and honest. In battle, Chiaki often uses tricks to gain the upper hand against Gedoshu.
