Trip Takes a Stand is the nineteenth episode of Power Rangers Time Force. It features the first appearance of a mysterious ailment that Ransik is afflicted with.

Synopsis[]

Ransik sends out a mutant named Notacon, who doesn't want to be evil. Frax's device forces him to do bad things, but Trip discovers his true nature and sets out to protect him from not only the fugitives, but from the Silver Guardian Eric!

Plot[]

Frax releases Notacon for Ransik, only to find that he's a very gentle mutant, who was arrested for a minor crime. Frax attaches a device to Notacon to control him, but Notacon escapes.

In the city, people are afraid of the mutant. Trip finds him and learns he was in the vault for stealing vegetables. He only stole because he was hungry; no one would feed him because of his scary appearance. His only desire is to be frozen again.

Eric shows up wanting to kill the mutant, and is willing to do almost anything to accomplish his goal. Eric believes that all mutants are evil and violent and menace to the people and the society and wants to kill Notacon just for being a mutant. However, Trip convinces Eric that not all mutants are the menace, and Notacon is a kind mutant on the side of the Rangers and people, and Eric refuses to kill Notacon. However, Frax takes control of Notacon's body and forces him to attack the Rangers.

Notacon tries to resist but Frax makes him grow. Ultimately the Shadow Force Megazord battles a controlled Notacon while Trip tries to use the Electro Booster to destroy Frax's control device. Notacon is too strong for the Shadow Force Megazord, but quite surprisingly Eric decides to help the Rangers and the Q-Rex joins the battle. However, instead of trying to destroy Notacon as is initially believed, Eric has Q-Rex hold him down, allowing Trip to destroy the control device.

With that gone, the other Rangers in the Shadow Force Megazord refreeze him. However Trip promises to help Notacon in the future.

Cast[]

Errors[]

  • For an unknown reasons, Eric does not wear his red beret in this episode despite already being the leader of Silver Guardians. Though it's very possible this episode may have aired out of production order and that the true timeline of this episode maybe between "Quantum Quest" (when Eric originally becomes the Quantum Ranger) and "Clash for Control, Part 1" as at the end of Part 2 is when Mr. Collins promotes Eric to the leader of the Silver Guardians following his successful acquisition of the Q-Rex.
    • What make this possibly also likely is that "The Legend of the Clock Tower" aired as Episode 17 despite the fact that episode clearly takes place sooner than that, before Dan Southworth joined the cast as Eric.
  • Lila can be seen in place of Nadira in some shots.
  • There are no audio sound effects in the opening theme.
  • The car that avoids Notacon, has a slight bluish blend after it stops sliding on his top.
  • Throughout this episode, the horn on Notacon’s back is bent.
  • The scenery changes a bit when the other Rangers go to help Trip.
  • When Trip is about to save Notacon from being killed by Frax, he seems to be leaping at Frax but in the next shot, he leaps at the Cyclobots.
  • This is very strange that Eric wanted to kill Notacon since in the previous episodes he froze mutants like Brickneck and Commandocon.

Notes[]

  • Ransik is shown to be quite a hypocrite; he initially wanted to kill Notacon for being useless, then orders Frax to force Notacon to fight the Rangers when they attempted to help him (over all a pointless effort as the Rangers would end up freezing Notacon again, regardless).
  • The Moral of the Week in this episode is similar to "The Wasp with a Heart" from In Space
