A Mystery to Me is the forty-fifth episode of Power Rangers Zeo.

Synopsis[]

The teens participate in a whodunit party for charity, thrown by Detective Stone. Thanks to Machine Empire meddling, the Power Rangers start to disappear for real, leaving Kat to solve the case and battle Archerina alone.

Plot[]

Bulk and Skull make their way through a creepy house, where someone watches them through a painting and an axe falls as they pass it. They find a room where a group of other people in fancy dress are waiting, including Tommy, Kat, Adam, Rocky, Tanya and Jason. They are all taking part in a murder mystery event run by Detective Stone to raise money for the retired detectives' fund. Tanya thinks Rocky did it, since he's the butler. Stone joins them and announces that he has the name of the culprit. Just as he is about to read it out, the lights go out and he disappears. Jason and Kat realize this is the mystery: Working out who caused him to disappear.

Prince Gasket and Archerina watch events through more peepholes. Archerina is resentful of Kat, who she considers to give pink a bad name. They make a plan to isolate her. While Kat searches for clues, Adam and some of the other contestants go looking for Stone. Adam sees a glowing door and goes through it, ending up in a dungeon. Kat interrogates Rocky, Bulk and Skull about their whereabouts. Tanya goes looking for Adam and also ends up in the dungeon, with Tommy and Rocky soon suffering the same fate. They assume this is where the game's victims are sent to wait.

Kat declares the culprit must be either Jason or Bulk and Skull. Bulk and Skull respond by accusing her, saying Stone's always told them it's the one you least expect. Jason almost goes through the glowing door but Bulk and Skull drag him through another door where they find the other contestants, in the real victims' room. Archerina appears to confront Kat, saying her friends are her prisoners and will be released if she meets her in the woods for a battle. Kat fails to alert Tommy and the others, so instead informs Zordon and Alpha at the Power Chamber. She morphs and goes to confront Archerina and Gasket, taking a beating from Archerina. Tommy and the others discover they can't contact Zordon or teleport out, realizing they're in one of Gasket's traps.

Archerina declares herself the winner against Kat but refuses to release her friends. Instead, Gasket summons the Nuklifier to destroy her. With the communicator still down, Zordon and Alpha send Auric the Conqueror to help Kat but he is soon take out of the fight by blasts from Gasket and Nuklifier. Zordon finally manages to get through to Tommy, Rocky, Adam and Tanya, who adjust their communicators and teleport to the Power Chamber. Alpha still can't contact Jason, so the four morph and join Kat.

The five Zeo Rangers use their Zeo Spin Punches to take out Nuklifier. Gasket responds by having Klank & Orbus grow him to giant size. The Rangers summon the Super Zeo Zords, forming them into the Super Zeo Megazord, and use the Warrior Wheel against him, but he takes the attack and they are without Pyramidas. Auric then grows to giant size and destroys Nuklifier with a blast from his sword. Gasket talks Archerina out of going after Katherine again, with Archerina noting the Pink Ranger has made an enemy.

The five teens rejoin Jason, Bulk and Skull, noting they're no closer to solving the mystery. Kat realizes the note Stone was about to read from is still there, but as she is about to read it out, the lights go out again and Stone reappears to announce that he's the culprit. He reminds Bulk and Skull it's always the person you least suspect.
