Glyph Hanger is the tenth episode of Power Rangers Turbo.

Synopsis[]

Divatox's former fiancé, The Pharaoh, comes to town. His magical staff falls into Adam's hands when he believes it to be a prop for his Egyptian stunt show. Soon, the staff begins turning every sign nearby into hieroglyphics, while Divatox plants a pyramid-shaped detonator at the stunt show, which blends in with all the props and has an electrical force-field around it.

Plot[]

A young man approaches a staff and declares he will now be master of Egypt. However, three other men, led by Adam and also dressed in Ancient Egyptian garb, appear and fight him, with Adam "destroying" the villain by using the staff to reflect sunlight on him. The audience stand and applaud the show. Divatox watches through a periscope, lamenting memories of Ancient Egypt. Porto tells Elgar that her first failed fiancé was Pharaoh, who left her at the altar. Divatox tells Porto to summon Pharaoh: She'll first use him to destroy the and then throw him on the trashcan like he did her.

Pharaoh is unhappy to be summoned but Divatox refuses to send him home unless he plants a detonator at the show and guards it against the Rangers. Pharaoh points out that Divatox has never managed to defeat the Turbo Rangers but reluctantly agrees. Pharaoh plants the pyramid-shaped detonator, then pretends to be a dummy when Adam and his boss Mr. Peabody appear. Adam thinks Pharaoh's staff is the one from the show and tells Peabody he's going to take it home and clean it. As he walks away, all the writing around him turns into hieroglyphics.

Adam meets up with Kat and Justin at Angel Grove High. Justin is reading a book on Ancient Egypt when they notice all the writing around them has changed to hieroglyphics. The effect spreads around town: At the Juice Bar, a customer complains to Stone that he can't read the menus. Bulk and Skull see this as an opportunity to draw what has happened to them.

Kat contacts Dimitria and Alpha, with Dimitria asking what symbol could have caused this. Divatox sends Pharaoh back to guard the detonator but, powerless without the staff, he gets harassed and tripped by two kids. Divatox is frustrated and Rygog suggests getting the staff back. Divatox sends a group of Piranhatrons to attack Adam, Kat and Justin. One of them grabs the staff and several of them disappear with it.

Kat, Adam and Justin meet up with Tommy and Tanya at the Juice Bar and update them, wondering how the staff could be what has caused the glyphs to appear. Peabody then appears with Adam's staff, saying he left it behind. Kat realizes there are two staffs, Tommy notes Divatox must be involved and Justin suspects a detonator. Adam realizes it must be at the stunt show and they head back there to begin searching for it. Peabody disturbs them while doing an inventory. Keen to identify the detonator, they help out by showing him several items which he instantly identifies as part of the catalogue.

Observing this, Divatox tells Pharaoh to go and stop the Rangers. Justin goes to touch the detonator and gets a shock. Peabody confirms it isn't part of the show and Adam says he left it behind. After Peabody has gone, the Rangers morph and Adam goes to destroy the detonator with the. However, they are then attacked by Pharaoh and a group of Piranhatrons. Adam shoots Pharaoh with the cannon but he reflects the blast back at them. Divatox then grows him to giant size.

The Rangers summon the Turbo Megazord and battle Pharaoh, who uses his staff and flame breath against them and knocks the Megazord down. As he is dreaming of destroying Earth without Divatox, the Turbo Megazord comes back at him and manages to destroy the staff. The Rangers summon the Turbo Megazord Saber and finish Pharaoh off with a Spinout.

Divatox isn't too disappointed, since they still haven't stopped the detonators. The Rangers return to the show and find Peabody has picked up the detonator. They startle him into throwing it up in the air, where Adam destroys it with the cannon. Peabody still thinks it was Adam's property. Divatox is left depressed, with even Elgar and Porto joking about Pharaoh being "ancient history" not cheering her up.

Later, Emily finds the five teens at the juice bar and leads them outside. Bulk and Skull have painted the wall (and Stone) in a variety of colors and are frustrated that two art critics are discussing primate art in abstract terms instead of getting their meaning.

Cast[]

Zords[]

Errors[]

  • GH018
One shot of the Turbo Megazord cockpit shows only Justin and Adam inside.
  • The Megazord battle mostly took place at night but it was daytime when the Rangers destroyed the detonator.
  • Tommy calls a morphed Adam out by name within earshot of Mr. Peabody when they spot the detonator at the stunt show after defeating Pharoah.
  • When Pharaoh struck Tanya with his staff, her belt buckle was missing.

Notes[]

  • Final appearance of Emily. She is mentioned one more time in "Cars Attacks".
    • This is also her only appearance in Turbo.
  • One of the only times in the series where Tommy, Kat, Tanya and Adam make cartoon sound effects, when they are showing items to Mr. Peabody. This is normally a trait of Bulk and Skull.
  • The episode title is a pun to the phrase "Cliff Hanger".
  • This is one of three episodes directed by Paul Schrier. The other two, being Weight and See, and Alarmed and Dangerous.
    • Schrier himself also appears in the credits.
