Icon-mightymorphinThis article is about a toyline featuring elements in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

The Power Rangers Legacy toyline launched in 2013 originally to commemorate the franchise's 20th anniversary. The line focuses on remaking classic toys and props from the franchise's earlier years, with an emphasis on improved detail and die-cast parts.

As the line is targeted more towards adult collectors that grew up watching the show as children, the products are more expensive than typical Power Rangers products and contain a greater level of detail and quality. It was succeeded by Hasbro's Lightning Collection in 2019.

It should be noted that the Legacy toys are not re-releases of the original toy molds, but rather all-new molds, save for the original Legacy Megazord (see below). Because of this, the Megazords in the Legacy line have Zordbuilder compatibility. Everything in the Legacy Line, with the exception of the figures, certain morphers, and communicators, all of which can be found at Barnes and Noble, is a Toys R Us exclusive in the United States.

Wave One (2013)[]

Legacy Megazord[]

MMPR IMG 0158 zps8c58eedf

Regular box

The Legacy Megazord is a remake of the original Megazord. The toy mold is not that of the classic 1992 Zyuranger Daizyujin & 1993 MMPR toy, but rather the 2010 version released to coincide with the "reversioned" release of the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers TV series. It transforms and combines in the same way as the classic toy, despite a few minor alterations, but is improved with diecast components, metallic stickers and painted details. Like the 2010 Dino Megazord, the Legacy Megazord is Zordbuilder compatible with toys from the MMPR 2010 through Ninja Steel toy lines.

In 2015, Bandai of America reissued the Megazord with the stickers already applied to the toy, a redesigned hilt on the Power Sword to make it easier to place into the hands, and stronger legs.

Legacy Power Morpher[]

MMPR Legacy Power Morpher

Legacy Power Morpher

The Legacy Power Morpher is a Power Morpher that comes with 5 weathered Power Coins made with diecast metal. The Morpher is slightly larger than the original 1992 Zyuranger Dino Buckler & 1993 MMPR Power Morpher toys, has diecast components, and can play sound effects. The Legacy Morpher was re-released in the fall of 2015 making it the 3rd re-release of the normal toy. The button on the rear has the Z present on the original prop, but it is now raised and painted rather than being a flat sticker. The Morpher also includes a black holster, which was seen in Zyuranger but omitted in Power Rangers. The mold for the Legacy Morpher was later used to make the Super Sentai Artisan Dino Bucker. The only differences are that the Power Rangers sound effects are replaced by the henshin sounds used in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, the Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger font replaces the Power Rangers text, and the Artisan Dino Buckler only comes with the Tyranno coin and, unlike the morpher, includes the red crystal.

Legacy Mask Collection[]

Legacy Mask Mollection

The Legacy Mask Collection is a set of six plastic helmets. It is in the same style as the Bandai Super Sentai Mask Collection, except with a black stem/neck, and a six-prong base instead of six single round ones. The Mask Collection only contains the helmets of the first six Rangers. It is unique in that it has panel lining on its grooved areas.

Wave Two (2014)[]

Legacy Green/White Ranger Power Morpher[]

This edition of the Legacy Power Morpher is exactly the same as the previous year's, but with gold colored diecast and new Power Coins representing the Green and White Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. This morpher was first released at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 as a limited edition item. The San Diego Comic-Con version was a 24k Gold plated version with 24k gold Green & White Ranger coins. This release makes it the first time that the Green/White Ranger morpher was released outside of Japan: the Dragon Buckler from Zyuranger was never released in the original MMPR toyline.

Legacy Dragon Dagger[]

This release is a brand-new remade version of the Green Ranger's classic weapon, with diecast components, classic sound effects and a chin-activated switch. It is larger than the original 1992 Zyuranger Zyusouken & 1994 MMPR Dragon Dagger releases & plays a more accurate version of the original Power Rangers theme song. A limited 24k gold version was offered at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 as a limited edition item. The Legacy Dragon Dagger was later re-released as the Super Sentai Artisan Zyusouken which features sounds of the Zyusouken from Zyuranger instead of those from the Legacy Dragon Dagger.

Legacy Dragonzord[]

MMPR Dragonzord-2

Legacy Dragonzord

The Legacy Dragonzord is a remade version of the Green Ranger's Dragonzord. It can combine with the Legacy Megazord or the Dino Megazord from the 2010 toyline to form Battle Mode or MegaDragonzord, and can combine further with Legacy Titanus to form the Ultrazord. Despite being an entirely new mold it transforms the same way as the classic toy, but has diecast parts, alternate hands to represent the more relaxed fingers often seen on the suit in the show, and an 11-inch fully-articulated tail, but unlike the 1992 Zyuranger Dragon Caesar & 1993 MMPR Dragonzord classic toys it does not have electronic components. There are 2 versions of the Legacy Dragonzord: the version released in the US & Canada had gold colored shoulders, while the version released in the UK had more a shiny gold for the shoulders.

Legacy Titanus The Carrierzord[]

Legacy Titanus the Carrierzord

The Legacy Titanus is a remade version of the Titanus the Carrierzord. It can combine with the previously released Megazord and Dragonzord to form the Ultrazord. It can also combine with the later releases of the Ninja Megazord and Falconzord to make the Ninja Ultrazord. Although it transforms the same way as the classic version, it differs in some aspects. It is fully-articulated in its neck. It has detailed paint jobs and a sculpt that drives its higher price point. Its wheel is made from rubber, and it lacks the electronics of the classic toy that the 1992 Zyuranger King Brachion & 1993 MMPR Titnaus releases have, so it is moved manually and does not have the Mix n Morph gimmick of the 2010 Titanus had either since this release uses a brand new mold unlike the Legacy Megazord being based on the 2010 Dino Megazord. The diecast parts are in its front legs, the chest cannon, and the tip of the tail cannon. It also includes two clips that could be attached to the Megazord's knees to support the weight of the MegaDragonzord. This mold would be later reused for the Soul of Chogokin release of Titanus with differences such as the way the paws or when the guns are mount move differently from the original release to the paint & details, the zord builder port for Legacy Dragonzord's tail being removed, and the fact that this wasn't engineered to fit the Soul of Chogokin Megazord originally.

Legacy 5-inch Figures[]

Mighty-Morphin-Power-Rangers-5-inch-Legacy-figures

These Action Hero figures were designed to coincide with the Super Megaforce and Super Megaforce Action Hero line of figures and are done in the same muscular 5-inch style. Basic Red Ranger and Green Ranger figures are omitted in favor of variants, as the former have already been released in Action Hero format. Their weapons are combinable into the Power Blaster and are fully painted. While marketed as Legacy figures, the box makes no mention of it. The scale was since abandoned for the new Legacy Collection.

  • White Ranger (Metallic Gold Parts/Outlined Tiger Eyes)

Wave Three (2015)[]

Legacy Tigerzord[]

MMPR-Legacy-White-Tigerzord

The Legacy Tigerzord is an improvement on the classic Tigerzord toy from the Deluxe Megazords series. The sculpt is updated to be more show-accurate and the details are fully painted. Tigerzord is a ZordBuilder series release and is compatible with everything else in the series, including the Dragonzord, which, as has been stated in conventions, it can do a special combination with. Unlike the original 1993 Dairanger Won Tiger and 1994 MMPR toys, it lacks the lights & sounds. It also lacks the two White Ranger figures seen with the original MMPR release (one of which was in scale with the Tigerzord) and the crystals on the original release. It can combine with the later-released Legacy Thunder Megazord to form the Mega Tigerzord just like the original.

Legacy Saba,The Talking Tiger Saber[]

The Legacy Saba is an improved model from the 1993 Dairanger Byakkoshinken and 1994 MMPR releases. The Legacy Saba also comes with new audio from voice actor Tony Oliver, who voiced him on the original show. The clips are re-recorded versions of quotes from the episodes White Light Part 2 and Two for One, as well as the MMPR theme similar to the Legacy Dragon Dagger. At San Diego Comic Con 2015, Bandai released a 24k Black and Gold Saba Sword. Only 1000 were made for the convention.

Legacy White Ranger Movie Edition Morpher[]

Legacywhitemoviemorpher

This is a redeco of the previously released morpher with a white holster and white tribal decals. It includes a shiner version of the previously-released White Tiger coin, as well as the Falconzord coin.

Legacy Movie Action Figures[]

LMovieafigures

The Legacy Movie Figures

The Movie Action Figures are the first ever figures to be released which are movie-accurate or even movie-inspired. All previous releases are simply repackaged or redecoed (usually metallic). The figures come with movie-accurate, fully-painted weapons and interchangeable helmets for Red and Yellow. While marketed as part of the Legacy Edition, the box makes no mention of it. The scale was dropped in favor of the new Legacy Collection.

  • White Ranger
  • Red Ranger
  • Blue Ranger
  • Black Ranger
  • Yellow Ranger
  • Pink Ranger
  • Ivan Ooze

Legacy Megazord (Black/Gold Variant)[]

Legacyblacandgolden

At Toy Fair 2015, Bandai of America debuted a Black and Gold version of the legacy Dino Megazord from the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It was released in July of 2015. This release is a recreation of the Black & Gold release of Daizyujin when it was released in Japan in 1992 and the Special Edition release of the original Megazord when it was released in America in 1994.

Wave Four (2016)[]

Legacy Blade Blaster[]

At San Diego Comic Con 2015, Bandai of America debuted the Legacy Blade Blaster. It has been released in Winter of 2015. It features a longer blade tip, screen-accurate paint-job, and improved sounds. Unlike the original Zyuranger Ranger Stick and the classic Blade Blaster toys, this release lacks the lights in the tip of the barrel.

Legacy Thunder Megazord[]

Legacy Thunder Megazord

At San Diego Comic Con 2015, Bandai of America debuted the Legacy Thunder Megazord from the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It was released in January of 2016. It also features backwards compatibility with previous Power Rangers Zordbuilder systems. Unlike the original 1993 Dairanger DX Dairen'oh and original 1994 Thunder Megazord releases it does not come with mini figures or power crystals were only exclusive to the American release, a chain for the sheath like in both shows which both original releases lacked, and sled pieces which can also be used with Legacy Tigerzord when forming Mega Tigerzord.

Legacy Falconzord[]

Power-Rangers-Legacy-Falconzord-First-Look-NYCC-2015

At New York Comic Con 2015, Bandai of America showed off the Legacy Falconzord from the third season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It was released in February of 2016 in the packaging style of the movie toyline from 1995, rather than the normal MMPR packaging. Unlike the original 1994 Kakuranger DX Tsubasamaru, which had lights and sounds that were removed in the 1995 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers releases for both the movie & normal toylines, this release has no electronics. The paint is notably less metallic. The release also has fully articulated talons, additional joints on the wings, and barrels that are fully separate rather than semi-fused.

Legacy Movie Morphers (Red, Pink, and Blue)
[]

2016 saw the release of three more of the Power Morphers seen in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie, similarly to the previously-released White Ranger edition. Like in the movie, the morphers are painted in highlights matching the respective Ranger's color. They also include matching-colored holsters, much like the White Ranger edition. Unlike the White Ranger version, however, which came with both the White Tiger coin and the Ninja coin, these releases include their respective dinosaur coins and the "tribe" coin.

Legacy Dragzonzord (Black/Gold Variant)[]

A Black & Gold variant of the Legacy Dragonzord was released in 2016. Unlike the Black and Gold release of Daizyujin from 1992 and the Special Edition Megazord from 1994, Dragon Caser and the Dragonzord never got a Black & Gold release in Japan or in the US.

Legacy Communicators[]

Communicator

At New York Comic Con 2015, Bandai of America displayed the Legacy Communicator. The communicator has different wrist straps for the main five rangers. It was released in the summer of 2016. A Green/White Ranger release is also available. It includes green and white wrist straps and Tommy-based sounds.

Legacy Red Ranger Helmet[]

Released in fall 2016, this helmet is a prop replica of the helmet worn by the Red Ranger. It includes a display stand, but can also be worn.

Legacy Ninja Megazord[]

The Legacy Ninja Megazord was released in the fall of 2016. Unlike the original Kakure Daishogun and 1995 release, it is smaller. All of the Ninjazords also feature improved articulation: the Ape zord has rotating wrists, ball-jointed shoulders, elbow articulation, and a bicep swivel, while its legs can now be split apart; the Wolf zord has knee articulation on both pairs of legs; the Bear zord has ankle articulation on its front legs; the Frog zord has ankle articulation, ball-jointed front legs, and can spread its legs; and the Crane, as the head, can move up and down in the Megazord's combined mode. Like all Legacy releases, this release is Zordbuilder-compatible and has a more accurate paint scheme. Whereas the original MMPR release featured pink on the Crane zord to associate it with the Pink Ranger, the Kakuranger release featured a crimson color, as did all footage. This release corrects the color to be more show-accurate. Like most Legacy releases, the figure also features diecast metal in various places. It can be combined with the Falconzord, albeit much differently than the original. When transformed, the Bear's legs stick out farther than its back, so the Falconzord attaches somewhat loosely to two tabs on the Bear's legs rather than clipping onto its back.

Wave Five (2017)[]

Black & Gold Titanus[]

A Black & Gold Titanus was featured in NYCC 2016 it has the same features as the normal release. This could also combine with the previous releases of the Megazord including the 2010 Dino Megazord, & the normal release of the legacy Megazord. If combined with the black & gold versions of the Legacy Megazord & Dragonzord it would form the black & gold ultrazord. Like the normal release this also could fit the Soul of Chogokin Megazord but barely as this mold of Titanus wasn't originally designed to fit the Soul of Chogokin Megazord. King Brachon & Titanus never got a black & gold release in the original Zyuranger or MMPR toylines.

Legacy Power Sword[]

A full scale prop size replica was made & it had slashing sound effects & also played the Power Rangers theme.

Legacy Wrist Communicator (Gold Ranger Ver.)[]

A replica of Jason's gold wrist communicator from Power Rangers Zeo. An SDCC 2017 exclusive.[1]

Legacy Megazord (2017 Movie)[]

Premium version of the Megazord toy from the 2017 reboot film. SDCC 2017 exclusive.
