Astronema Think Twice is the twenty-seventh episode of Power Rangers in Space. It is the second of the five-part story arc regarding the truth about Astronema.
Synopsis[]
With the revelation that she was once Karone, Andros' long-lost sister, Astronema wonders whether or not she should continue to be evil. She meets with Andros on KO-35 to talk about it, but has trouble believing his claims, unleashing the Spikey monster upon him. Meanwhile, the rivalry between Ecliptor and Darkonda heats up.
Plot[]
Astronema is wandering the ruins of KO-35 as she begins to vaguely remember playing with her brother as a child leading her to reflect on her recent encounter with Andros. This leads her to a park where she begins to remember the events leading up to her kidnapping. Andros appears and asks if she remembers who she is. Astronema denies it, but Andros suspects that she remembers as this is the same park where she spent her last days as Karone. Frustrated at her inner turmoil, she shoots at Andros with her staff and while he is dodging her blast, she disappears. Andros attempts to search for her but quickly gives up and teleports away. Darkonda, hidden in nearby bushes, starts applauding himself as his manipulation of Astronema is working. Enraged at Darkonda’s treachery towards Astronema, Ecliptor confronts his nemesis and the two enemies begin to duel.
As Darkonda gets the upper hand against Ecliptor, he threatens to rebuild Astronema once she falls to pieces, but Ecliptor guarantees that it's Darkonda who'll be in pieces long before the princess. Although evenly matched, Ecliptor turns the tide and overpowers Darkonda. However, Darkonda gets Ecliptor from behind and takes the warrior down. Ecliptor orders Darkonda to leave forever, but Darkonda grabs him from behind and forcibly fuses the two back into Darkliptor. The fusion doesn't last long though, as Ecliptor is able to break himself free of the fusion with his superior mental fortitude. As his foe recovers, Ecliptor takes the opportunity to deliver a fatal strike, seemingly defeating Darkonda, but upon inspection, he notices that there's no debris and is enraged to realize that Darkonda has once again escaped.
Back in his lair, Darkonda laments (revealing to the audience) that he has only five lives left. Dark Specter admits that he knew Astronema would discover her past life as Karone. Darkonda suggests destroying Astronema before she betrays the leader of the United Alliance of Evil, but Dark Specter doesn't want to because she has shown him loyalty for years. However, Dark Specter is willing to test Astronema to prove her loyalty.
On the Dark Fortress, Ecliptor comes to Astronema to inform her of his revelation about Darkonda, but she interrupts him demanding to know why he didn't tell her about her relation to Andros. Ecliptor admits that while he and Astronema are evil, they are also very different, explaining that he was built to be evil, while she was born to be good and that he raised her to be evil. She posits that the knowledge of her origin might make her good. Concerned, Ecliptor expresses his hope that she won't become good, but she admits to being confused. Ecliptor takes the opportunity to tell Astronema that Darkonda was spying on her on KO-35 and goes on to allege that Darkonda told Dark Specter about her encounter with Andros. She realizes that she should have listened to Ecliptor's warnings about Darkonda and rightfully anticipates that Dark Specter will test her loyalties, but she plans on passing with flying colors. She creates Spikey and orders the monster to destroy the Red Ranger.
Andros is now elsewhere on KO-35 resuming his search for his sister, but is attacked by Spikey. During the confrontation, the monster sends Andros’ Morpher flying off his wrist and begins to overwhelm him. Meanwhile, Astronema happily watches the defenseless Ranger’s struggle from afar and grabs his Morpher. But when Spikey pins her supposed brother down, nearly destroying him, she recalls Andros’ earlier attempts to convince her that she is his sister and begins to feel remorse. She tosses Andros his Morpher and starts to leave. While confused by this, Andros morphs and manages to defend himself better against Spikey all the while calling out to Astronema. The rest of the Rangers arrive to assist Andros and the five manage to thwart Spikey with the Spiral Saber Booster Mode and Quadroblaster Combo.
Spikey then grows and the Rangers summon the Mega Voyager in response. As the battle ensues, Spikey uses his thorns to overwhelm the Mega Voyager. Andros gets an idea and manages to destroy Spikey's nails with a powerful punch. Afterwards, they make use of the Mega V3’s Missile Mode to destroy Spikey.
Soon after, Astronema meets with Dark Specter to discuss what she has discovered about her past as Karone. Dark Specter tells Astronema not to let this affect her future, reminding her of her status as princess of darkness. She assures him that she won't stray from evil. To see if Astronema's loyalty is still strong, Dark Specter tasks her with destroying her brother Andros. While the thought of destroying Andros causes some internal conflict, Astronema agrees to Dark Specter's terms
On the Astro Megaship, T.J. warns Andros that despite knowing Astronema is his sister, that doesn't negate how dangerous she is. Cassie even expresses concern that the knowledge would make Astronema determined to destroy Andros. However, Andros brings up that Astronema gave him his Morpher during the fight, but the conversation is interrupted by a message from Astronema secretly asking Andros to meet her on KO-35 to talk alone. Although his team is telling him not to go down alone at the risk of it being a trap, Andros leaves without them anyway.
As the two meet up on their home planet. Astronema claims she does not know who she truly is, but Andros reminds her of their childhood dream of becoming Power Rangers, asserting that the persona of Astronema was forced on her. However, Astronema barely remembers anything from her childhood and tells Andros she knows where Dark Specter is holding Zordon. Astronema says she can take him and the others to the location, and he believes her.
To the shock of the rest of the team, Andros brings Astronema aboard the Astro Megaship. Andros explains that Astronema knows where Zordon is, but T.J. points out her obvious involvement in Zordon’s capture. Astronema denies the accusation and offers to help rescue him. Cassie rejects the offer and asks for the coordinates instead. Astronema reveals that they need her to deactivate the forcefield surrounding the planet so they can get in. The Rangers then make several arguments against trusting her. T.J. says they will only bring Astronema with them if they restrain her. Andros is against that, but Astronema allows it and gives them Zordon's location: the jungle planet of Utopa in the Kurag Galaxy. T.J. has D.E.C.A. set a course to the planet but sternly tells Andros that Astronema better be right.

- Andros morphed without pressing any buttons.
- In her flashback, Astronema recalled Andros having shaken her and shouting, “Listen to me, I'm your brother!” but in the previous episode, Andros is actually holding her elbow, and telling her sadly, “No, listen to me. I'm your brother.”
