Ectomorphicon Titans

The two main Ectomorphicon Titans

The Ectomorphicon Titans were massive Zord like machines that served as the secondary antagonists of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.

Zord History

Past

Ivan Ooze was an evil alien tyrant and a treacherous sorcerer, who (according to Zordon), "ruled the world with a reign of unparalleled terror." However, this was not enough for Ivan since he desired to conquer the entire universe so built his ultimate weapons; the Ectomorphicon Titans Hornitor and Scorpitron; gigantic Zord like beings to conquer the universe. However, Ivan Ooze was imprisoned in a Hyperlock Chamber by Zordon, Dulcea and the "Order of Meridian" who presumably were the precursors to the modern-day Power Rangers and the Titans were sealed underground close to him 6000 years ago. The Hyperlock Chamber with Ivan in ooze form was sealed "deep underground" somewhere beneath the modern day city of Angel Grove, California.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie

After being unleashed and betraying Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa, Ivan enslaves the parents of Angel Grove to dig up the massive machines. Hornitor is the first one to be dug up followed by Scorpitron and both are brought online after which both machines wreak chaos in the city. When the Power Rangers return from Phaedos (having had to acquire a new power to defeat Ivan), they use their new Ninja Zords to fight it and Scorpitron. Hornitor fights with the Ape and Bear Zords whilst the whilst the Wolf and Frog fight Scorpitron. The fight is even until Adam gets Scorpitron by the neck with his FrogZord's tongue and fries it which allows Tommy to swoop in and obliterate Scorpitron with a salvo of missiles from the Ninja FalconZord. With no other opponents, the six Zords box the Hornitor in near the observatory that Ivan is watching the battle from so Hornitor turns towards its creator and whimpers in fear, begging for help. In response, Ivan decides to merge with the ooze in Hornitor, causing it to grow, lose its stinger and its head morphs into a replica of Ivan which essentially erases Hornitor's programming instantly. Ivan breaks the observatory off the ground to use as a sword, breaking the monorail underfoot. The Rangers save the incoming car and face off the combined foe with the Ninja FalconMegazord. After taking a massive beating, they decide the only way to kill Ivan is to lure him into the path of Ryan's Comet. Lured into space, Ivan grabs the Megazord until being kneed in the groin, knocking him into the comet's path. Once it hits, both Hornitor's body and Ivan are obliterated and Ivan's spells break.

Video Game Adaptations

  • The Ectomorphicon Titans appeared in the video games patterned after the movie on Sega Genesis and Sega Game Gear as a boss character.
    • In both, Hornitor and Scorpitron were boss characters with Ivan-Hornitor as the final boss. However, Ivan-Hornitor had a significantly different design than what appeared in the movie, having a more mechanical insect-like head and four Scorpitron like arms.
  • Whilst Scorpitron is not a fightable boss in the Game Gear version, it appears in cutscenes and unlike the movie, fuses with Ooze and Hornitor to create the unnamed final boss which has traits of Scorpitron incorporated. The fusion is playable in the VS and Link Cable modes of the game.
