Back Alright!? Imo-Youkan Life (バックオーライ！？イモヨーカン人生 Bakku Ōrai!? Imo-Yōkan Jinsei) is the thirty-eighth episode of Gekisou Sentai Carranger. It continues the Carrangers' battle with Norishiron 12 from the previous episode, leading to a rather peculiar conclusion.
Synopsis[]
A scheme by the Bowzock to protect their imo-youkan supply turns the elderly Imochou owner into a young man, which Youko believes is the man of her dreams.
Plot[]
At the Baribarian, Exhaus punishes the Bowzock without warning, wondering if the gang realizes his anger and stating that if the gang used the Norishiron 12 he gave them, they could have conquered "Earsh", yet they still failed. Gynamo tells the giant that they fixed up the mecha properly this time.
On Earth, Dappu explains that the Bowzock are being sponsored by Exhaus now, but to not show fear since they're fighting for traffic safety. The team pile their hands together in unison until they realize that one of them is missing: Youko, who is reading over a magazine instead as she states she doesn't want to ruin their moment but may be leaving the Carranger soon! She shows off her horoscope stating that at 1:01:01PM on November 15th, she (a Sagittarius) is going to meet her destiny on 1st Chome, 1st Street, 1st Area"! Youko believes that she's going to encounter love at first sight and will get married meaning she can't be a Carranger anymore as she just heads off, shocking and confusing the team.
Back on the Baribarian, Gynamo reasons that if they use a Gorotsuki enlarged alongside the Norishiron 12, the Carranger won't stand a chance. However without warning, Grotch reveals he just went to buy more imo youkan at Imocho and the store was closed until further notice, surprising the alien as he discovers the owner of the shop had been making it non-stop for 50 years and has become exhausted! At the surprise of his wife and Grotch, the Imocho owner announces he's retiring from imo youkan! In space, Gynamo realizes if the Imocho owner can't make imo youkan, the Bowzock can't grow; but Exhaus states that if you can make a human young, they can be used once again. The giant grabs a shooting star and transforms it into a strange bottle he states is a rejuvenating cream that should be used on the Imocho owner; leading to Gynamo bringing out Bowzock's best make-up artist, PP Chiipuri, to handle the job.
As he arrives on Earth, PP Chiipuri appears at the Imocho residence shocking the wife as he opens the bottle and puts it on the owner of the shop, stopping his wife from intervening while stating that he should be trusted with any blemishes, wrinkles or skin treatments. Removing the cream, the owner is suddenly transformed as his wife faints, the Gorotsuki calling him handsome as he reveals he's just how he looked 50 years ago as PP Chiipuri reveals he's young again, the owner knocking the alien away as he runs away as PP Chiipuri politely asks for him to get back to making imo youkan!
At that moment, Youko arrives at "1st Chome, 1st Street, 1st Area" with ten seconds to spare, making her nervous. The Imocho owner rushes by as he tries to escape and hits Youko, knocking her down and wondering if she's OK, making the female ecstatic in seeing he's her type and that this is the destiny of her horoscope! She asks the owner if this is destiny but he wonders as his true older self contemplates in his mind on being sick of his job and being young again, stating it's destiny as he nods. Youko keeps claiming it's amazing they have a destined romance as the owner states it's embarrassing at his age but that it's shocking he's also young again; Youko claims she noticed he talks like an old person but he states he was excited and tries to change his lingo making both of them laugh. Youko introduces herself as the Imocho owner hesitates before calling himself "Imotaku". The duo soon go on a date, go from a cafe to the harbor.
At the same time PP Chiipuri finds the owner and wonders what he's doing as Imotaku states he wants to be a bakery chef; Youko wonders why he's speaking past tense and states he still can being still young, surprising Imotaku as he asks her if she wants to open a bakery and the duo will make the best cakes in the world together, shocking the Gorotsuki as he rushes out and tells Imotaku that's not what he wanted. The young man tells him to not interfere with a face like his as PP Chiipuri wonders if he can go against him as Imotaku tells Youko to leave it to him, fighting the Gorotsuki as he's ultimately strangled. Grotch shows up telling PP Chiipuri to take it easy due to the young man's importance, making him release the grip and asking if he's alright as Imotaku slugs him into Grotch and starts flailing and kicking both Bowzock opponents as the other Carranger show up to help, only for Youko to tell them to not intervene and let her man of destiny handle it! Imotaku chops Grotch and PP Chiipuri as Minoru asks if he's the man from the horoscope but Kyosuke wonders why he sounds old. PP Chiipuri and Grotch ultimately escape as Youko celebrates Imotaku's success and they embrace, making Natsumi realize how they're into each other. But without warning, the owner's wife rushes in stating she'd been looking for him making him shocked and Youko yell at her wondering how he could be her sweetheart, making her realize that she's the wife of the Imocho owner. The wife, Ume states the young man is her husband, shocking Youko and the Carranger as Ume reveals the Bowzock made the owner young again, surprising everyone as Youko confronts him and he reveals it's true, making Youko faint from dizziness and the Carranger carry her away from the scene.
The quarter wait on Youko as she comes to, wondering how the horoscope could get it wrong but hitting Imotaku with the towel she was treated with! She reveals he is the owner as he wonders if they can talk again but she states he has a wife, making Ume confirm that and stating he's being cruel after their fifty years together. Imotaku states he just suddenly became young and had no idea what to do as Ume cries, making Youko realize the truth; while Kyosuke wonders why the Bowzock would want to make Imocho's owner young again. PP Chiipuri realizes that civilians are catching on and that if humans discover their connection to Imocho's imo youkan, the Bowzock will be ruined! The alien decides on a diversion as he jumps out and states it was an experiment and that the Imocho owner was his first subject and he was going to cause a panic by turning people young again! Youko is mad as PP Chiipuri runs off due to his good performance, the Carranger pursuing as Youko sees Imotaku and Ume, making her angered by the move. The Carranger transform as Signalman returns to patrolling elsewhere, with PP Chiipuri rushing past him, making the officer stating he can't run by with such an ugly face without permission! PP Chiipuri states that was rude as he fires the youth cream, slamming onto Signalman's face as he states he doesn't need it and rips it off, turning back into a child! PP Chiipuri states he'll make him smaller as the Carranger attack and Youko declares they won't let him do this anymore and the Gorotsuki summons Wumpers to attack, with even the younger Signalman joining the battle. PP Chiipuri kicks Pink Racer and fights her, the female holding him off as he threatens to use the cream to turn the Rangers into kids, but Youko flips creating the Wheel Spin Shield to block the youth cream, then the Auto Punisher to blow him away.
Youko tells PP Chiipuri to change the Imocho owner back to normal, but is stopped by the arrival of Norishiron 12, Zelmoda stating the repairs are done as Kyosuke summons the VRV Machines and the team forms into VRV Robo. The two mecha fight in the streets as Norishiron 12 fires an electric attack causing a panic in the streets as Ume falls dropping several blocks of imo youkan. Imotaku rushes to her as she frets about the imo youkan; he tells her to forget about them but Ume states she can't being that it was the last imo youkan they made yesterday and if she loses it, the bond between the two of them will be gone forever as Imotaku realizes the truth until they're forced away by an explosion. The duo go into hiding dropping that imo youkan as Grotch takes it and gives it to PP Chiipuri, who is forced to eat it as he changes into a giant and kicks VRV Robo leading to a team-up with Norishiron 12. The two are soon blasted by Sirender piloted by the younger Signalman stating he is too small to hit the pedals. PP Chiipuri asks to take on the mecha but is hit making him embarrassed and easily handled by VRV Robo while Norishiron 12 is held back by Sirender. Pulling out the youth cream, it tries to fire it but VRV Robo grabs it away; as the two struggle, it is fired at Norishiron 12 making it covered in the face forcing Zelmoda to remove it, but making his mecha transform back into a book throwing him out as Grotch states it's in it's pre-assembled state as it explodes! VRV Robo punches PP Chiipuri and throws the youth cream and PP Chiipuri down as they finish him off with the Victory Twister, restoring Signalman to an adult. Youko realizes the smoke from the defeated PP Chiipuri turns people back to normal as it blows into the town and over the Imocho owner, changing him back into an old man and shocking his wife but delighting him as he returns to normal. The Carranger watch as the Imocho owner proposes to his wife in making more imo youkan which Ume accepts and Youko shows delight.
Later, Youko shows happiness at the Imocho couple being fine while Minoru states the Imocho imo youkan tastes better and is more popular than ever now! The two owners work happily as Youko and the Carranger wave at the Imocho duo as they laugh with hesitance.
