Dreadhead is the western cowboy/ghost/dreadlock-themed Nighlok, armed with a shotgun with a blade along its underside. He is immune to almost any physical attack due to being able to turn intangible at will. He serves as the main antagonist of the episode "Day Off".

History[]

Dreadhead is a Nighlok who uses a shotgun with a blade along its underside. He possesses intangibility which enables him to ward off most physical attacks with obviously great ease. He is vulnerable only to energy attacks.

Dreadhead entered the human world and attacked Panorama City. He encountered the Samurai Rangers. Mike even mocked Dreadhead because of his hair. The Rangers couldn't defeat him because of his ability. They used only their swords and their strikes passed through him. However, he left because he started drying and was damaged by energy strikes from their swords.

He then arrived to the junk of Master Xandred. Dayu considered him incompetent to carry his mission, but Master Xandred was impressed with Dreadhead's job and even praised him.

Dreadhead later returned to the city and again encountered the Power Rangers. He successfully battled the heroes, until Jayden arrived and used the new Beetle Disc to switch his Fire Smasher to Cannon Blast Mode, which destroyed the Nighlok.

Dreadhead returned as a Mega-Monster and fought the Samurai Megazord. He summoned giant Moogers and was winning, but the Rangers summoned the new BeetleZord which helped them. Together they formed the new Beetle Blaster Megazord, which finally destroyed Dreadhead.Tvicon TV STORY-Day Off

Dreadhead later appeared at a Halloween party at the Nighlok Heaven where he recounts his battles with the Samurai Rangers. Tvicon TV STORY-Party Monsters

Personality[]

Dreadhead was a boastful and confident, but funny Nighlok. He considered himself the best and took pleasure in his mission to gather the fears of people and then destroy the Samurai Rangers. Dreadhead is not smart among other Nighloks, as when he was a Mega Monster, he was unaware that he is vulnerable to energy attacks. Regardless, he is faithful to Master Xandred.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Intangiblity: Dreadhead is immune to most physical attacks and so cannot be harmed by the Rangers' Spin Swords, but when Jayden mastered the Beetle Disc, the 5 Disc Beetle Cannon and later the Beetle Blaster Megazord, he was put down for good.
  • Gap Teleportation: Dreadhead can teleport using gaps.
  • Reviving: Just like other Nighloks, Dreadhead can revive himself after his death.
  • Enlarging: Just like other Nighloks, Dreadhead can enlarge himself and turn into a Mega Monster.
  • Giant Moogers Summoning: Dreadhead can summon giant Moogers to assist him in Zord battles. He did not summon Moogers while small however.

Abilities[]

  • Strength: Single slashes of Dreadhead's shotgun blade can knock down the Rangers.
  • Expert Fighter: Dreadhead is an excellent fighter with his gun, overwhelming and taking down all five Rangers.

Weaknesses[]

  • Sanzu River Reliance: Like all Nighloks, Dreadhead must stay around the Sanzu River or he will dry out.
  • Intangibility Limit: Despite being intangible in response to physical attacks, Dreadhead can still be affected by energy attacks.

Arsenal[]

  • Bladed Shotgun: Dreadhead wields a shotgun in battle that has a large silver blade on the underside to strike down his enemies.
    • Lasers: He can fire red lasers from his shotgun. Single blasts can take down all five Rangers and a point blank shot to the chest would have apparently killed Kevin had Jayden not intervened.

Behind the Scenes[]

Etymology[]

  • Dreadhead's name is a portmanteau of "Dreadlock" and "Deadhead".

Notes[]

Dreadhead
  • When the camera angle changes to behind Dreadhead, the viewers can see the zipper in the back of the costume.
  • He speaks in a stereotypical Western accent.
  • Scenes with Dreadhead's gun were altered to cover the barrels.
