This episode marks the first appearance of Trent's Super Dino Mode and the redemption of Trent after his powers are relieved of their evil influence culminates the story arc of the White Dino Ranger. It also features a description of how Mesogog is given birth to through Anton Mercer's telling of the events of this birth.

Synopsis[]

Zeltrax, desiring to atone for his loss to the White Ranger and win back Mesogog's approval, creates Copyotter whose powers are the production of copies of anything that is within his sight and has him create a duplicate of the White Dragon Sword for the purpose of framing Trent in the trashing of Mesogog's lab - motivated by this framing, Mesogog tries to kill Trent with the Lifeforce Extractor for his betrayal, but however he suddenly transforms back into Anton Mercer and the extractor releases the White Dino Gem of its evil influence allowing Trent the chance to assume full control of the Gem's powers - with this release, he helps the other Rangers defeat Copyotter and re-earns their trust. By the end of the day, Zeltrax creates an evil White Ranger clone. Additionally the story of how Mesogog is born is told by Anton Mercer himself as he gives a description of the events associated with this birth.

Plot[]

Conner and Kira are at Hayley's Cyberspace, where Kira is surprised to see Ethan waiting on tables - Ethan had decided to help Hayley out since Trent quit. Conner and Ethan then launch into a conversation about Trent, with Conner commenting that Trent had been keeping busy kicking their butts and Kira had to admit that maybe the guys were right. Kira believes that maybe there was no trace of any good left in Trent.

Meanwhile, Trent practices his battle skills with several Tyrannodrones which he makes quick work of as they simply are too easy. He tells his father, who had walked out, that he needs something a bit more difficult. Trent sits in a chair and looks at his Dino Gem bracelet as his father sits down as well. Trent continues to grow stronger with the power of the White Dino Gem, but Anton has no approval of the path he has taken. Anton reveals that he was on the verge of what he thought was a breakthrough when he accidentally transformed himself into Mesogog since he felt the experiments were too dangerous to conduct on anyone else and so he performed them on himself but had no idea the effects would be so monstrous. Trent thinks that they are on the verge of bringing back the dinosaur era and that was what his dad wanted - Anton tells his son it was what Mesogog wanted, not him and stresses to his son that this was not the exact life he wanted for his son. Trent angrily replies that it was a little too late for that and angrily left his father. Anton is left to ponder the consequences of his experiment on himself.

Meanwhile, Elsa laughs at Zeltrax for his recent failure against the White Ranger but Zeltrax swears that he will get revenge and uses the Geno Randomizer to create the Copyotter, whose powers are themed as having the ability to copy anything he either sees or hears.

Tommy summons the other Rangers to deal with Copyotter, who has attacked a warehouse. Copyotter has the ability to copy things which are in his sights and which he hears and begins by copying the Rangers' weapons, attacks and even their voices and then summons the Triptoids and makes copies of them expanding the army. He also accidently runs into Cassidy who, after an argument, makes three copies of. The four Cassidys all complement each other and leave, while Copyotter, initially amused, tells himself that he will probably regret that decision.

Trent catches up with Zeltrax's creation who he thinks maybe might provide more of a challenge. However, the monster just makes a copy of the White Ranger's Drago Sword and retreats.

Zeltrax trashes Mesogog's lab, ruining months of experiments and plants the Drago Sword copy in a successful strategy of framing Trent.

The Rangers engage the Copyotter again and Conner suggests that they close the head of the Tyranno Staff when using the Z-Rex Blaster as Copyotter will make a copy and it will explode when he fires it - this plan almost works before Copyotter notices the closed head on his Z-Rex Blaster copy and opens it which means his firing of the Z-Rex Blaster against the Rangers is successful. Trent watches and plans to take on the winner when he is pulled through an invisiportal by Mesogog. Tommy comes to help out the other Rangers.

Mesogog has Trent strapped to a chair and adjusts a few instruments on the Lifeforce Extractor. Trent does not understand why Mesogog is calling him a traitor and tells him that he has the wrong being - Mesogog does not listen and prepares the equipment for Trent's instant elimination. A beam of light surrounds Trent as he feels his life ebbing away. Desperately, Trent calls out to his father, reminding him that he is his son. Anton comes to Trent's rescue just in time to save him and in the process, the laser shatters the evil encoding over the White Dino Gem. Anton tells Trent that the White Ranger's power is still active and that he should go use it for something good by helping the other Rangers - Anton almost collapses and tells Trent that he knows he will do what he has to do. Dr. Mercer vows to find a way out of the mind-sharing with Mesogog. Trent promises his father that he will tell no one his secret.

Trent morphs and arrives on his Dino ATV, starting his redemption by blasting Copyotter. He then takes out his Drago sword for close-combat attacks against Copyotter who clones the Drago Sword and uses Trent's attack on him. Trent activates Super Dino Mode which he uses to destroy Copyotter. Mesogog revives and enlarges Copyotter. As the Rangers engage Copyotter in a Zord battle, Zeltrax catches Tommy off guard - Trent comes to his rescue and takes on Zeltrax before he and Tommy and Trent take down Zeltrax in a two-against-one battle. Tommy wants to know why Trent helped him and Trent reveals the reason. Meanwhile, the Thundersaurus Megazord takes down Copyotter for good.

When the Rangers return to the Dino Lab, they find that Trent is there and he wants to join them. Tommy and Hayley say that they believe Trent wants to help - the other Rangers are hesitant but decide to give Trent one last chance before they play on Trent's new arrival into the team and tell him that he has to wash all the Zords. Trent also asks Hayley if he can start working again the cafe again and Hayley says yes.

Meanwhile, Elsa suggests to Zeltrax that he leaves right away as she knows that Mesogog will be furious now that Trent has now joined the other Rangers; Zeltrax reveals that he is not worried because before Copyotter's destruction, he used Copyotter's powers to create an evil clone of the White Ranger who is without any trace of Trent.

Errors[]

  • When Copyotter fires the Copy Z-Rex Blaster, the real Z-Rex Blaster is shown with its head open, due to the Abaranger footage being replaced.
  • When Copyotter copies the Brachio Staff, he announces "Wind Strike" but it looks more like the Wave Strike.
  • It is unknown how the White Ranger's clone had managed to not vanish after Copyotter's destruction as Cassidy's three clones themselves vanish not long after - it is possible that modifications were made to Copyotter's system to keep the evil clone from vanishing at the time of Copyotter's destruction.

Notes[]

  • From this episode onward, Trent switches to the side of good when the removal of the White Dino Gem's evil encoding begins the transition - this is the third time in the entire Power Rangers franchise in which a Ranger who has been evil at the time of receiving their powers finally joins the allegiance of the good Rangers.
  • This episode features the birth of the White Dino Ranger Clone.
  • This episode marks the debut of Elsa's new bodily appearance.
  • This episode uses a plot which is similar to an episode plot that is first used by the Lost Galaxy episode "The Chameliac Warrior".
  • This episode reveals the origin of Mesogog through an explanation of the events by Dr. Mercer.
