The Magirangers are a Sentai team composed of members of the Ozu family, a family of mages in various proficiencies that battle the evil Underground Hades Empire Infershia.

These five children (three brothers and two sisters) lived peacefully with their mother, on the notion that their father died in an expedition in Antarctica. But upon learning the truth, their mother revealed to them their family legacy. Over time, they learn their father was a Heavenly Saint. The five siblings also receive the power to attain "Legend" form. By the final half of the series, the siblings were reunited with their parents.

Team History

Magiranger

The Ozu Family (小津一家 Ozu Ikka), also known as the Magirangers or the Mahou Sentai Magiranger, is a fictional family portrayed in the Japanese Super Sentai series Mahou Sentai Magiranger. They are a family of mages in various proficiencies that battle the evil Underground Hades Empire Infershia with their magical ability to transform into the Magirangers.

Gokaiger

Years later, the Space Empire Zangyack invaded Earth. This threat was so great that all of the first 34 Super Sentai, including the eight Magirangers, were needed to oppose them. The 34 Sentai put up a valiant fight against the ground forces, but when the Zangyack fleet itself attacked them, Akarenger told everyone to combine their powers and save the Earth. This destroyed the Zangyack fleet and resulted in the loss of their powers, which resurfaced as Ranger Keys, that were dispersed throughout the universe.

The keys were collected by AkaRed, and later utilized by the 35th Super Sentai, the Gokaigers, a group of five people from different planets who came to Earth in search of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 1: The Space Pirates Appear After the Gokaigers landed on Earth their guide Navi told them to find,"A man dressed in black". This man turned out to be none other than Kai, now 23 years old and calling himself "A magician who forgotten his magic" and challenged Gokai Red and Gokai Green. With assistance from Heavenly Saint Flagel, Kai helped Gokai Green realize the "true power of the Magirangers", which turned out to be courage. He revealed to Marvelous that he could only gain the Greatest Treasure in the Universe once he unlocked the greater power of the Ranger Keys. The MagiDragon was the first greater power to be granted to the Gokaigers, giving GokaiOh the ability to transform into Magi GokaiOh. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 3: Changing Courage into Magic

After the Gokaigers finally defeated Zangyack, they returned the Ranger Keys before they left Earth to find the second Greatest Treasure in the Universe. Houka was seen receiving her Ranger Key and thanked the Gokaigers. It is assumed the rest of the Magirangers have their powers back as well. Tvicon TV STORY-Final Ep.: Farewell Space Pirates

The Magirangers, among the majority of the Super Sentai heroes, were caught up in the "Super Hero Taisen" incident which eventually resulted in the Super Sentai teams and Kamen Riders joining forces to defeat both Dai-Zangyack and Dai-Shocker. The Magirangers were not accompanied by MagiShine, MagiMother, and Wolzard Fire who, like other additional heroes, were strangely absent in this event. Notes

  • The Magirangers are the first team to include a Gold-colored Sixth Ranger (MagiShine).
  • As recently highlighted in Super Hero Taisen, certain Kamen Riders and Super Sentai heroes share design and power motifs. Motif-wise, the Magiranger's Kamen Rider counterpart would be Kamen Rider Wizard, because both have a magic-based-on-mythical-elements motif. (This was not noted in Super Hero Taisen as Kamen Rider Wizard was not introduced yet.)
  • The names of the five Ozu siblings spells in age order out the Japanese name for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: Ozu no Mahoutsukai
