History

In the year 2025, three SPD cadets: Sky, Bridge, and Syd are training in order to improve their skills. Soon, their commander Cruger sends them to catch a duo of market thieves: Jack and Z. The cadets chase the thieves and soon they battle 2-on-1, and then 1-on-1. The thieves are revealed to have powers, like the cadets themselves. The cadets are defeated and the thieves run. Cruger is disappointed of their defeat. Jack and Z are not actually thieves. They give to the poor using stolen items. Later, Cruger and Kat presents the cadets with Delta Morphers, and gives a demonstration. The cadets find the duo, but this time, the duo is outnumbered until a group of Krybots arrive and the duo run. The cadets pull their morphers and morph. Syd becomes Pink. Bridge is Green. But Sky is Blue, which he is mad because he didn't get Red. Jack and Z come help as the rangers are in the line of being blasted. All the enemies were defeated and the rangers thank the duo for helping. The duo are arrested and is offered a change of a lifetime by Cruger. Z accepts and receives the morpher to become Yellow Ranger. It took Jack awhile to accept Cruger's offer after hearing Boom's statement. He rushes to help, and is ambushed by the Bluehead. Jack reveals a Delta Morpher and becomes Red Ranger and Sky says "You've got to be kidding me. He's the Red Ranger?" Cruger congratulates the rangers on their first victory.

Every member of this team has a unique power that can only be accessed when unmorphed.

The unlikely new team fought a number of battles against Emperor Gruumm and the criminals hired by him to attack the Earth, particularly after the A-Squad left Earth to counter a distant threat. In the process, they met a young boy named Sam who possessed powers not unlike their own. Cruger revealed that the boy was the last child of a group of scientists who had worked on creating the SPD Morphers, with the other five children being the B-Squad Rangers themselves. Their strange powers were a result of their parents being exposed to the unique energy of the morphers. Sam was later brought into SPD, and became a member of C-Squad, with the aspiration of becoming a Ranger himself one day.

Commander Cruger eventually took to the field himself alongside B-Squad after an old foe, General Benaag, reared his ugly head. The Troobian General had participated in the invasion and destruction of Cruger's home planet, Sirius, and was believed to have kidnapped Cruger's wife Isinia. Thus left the last of his kind, Cruger had put down his Shadow Shaber and vowed never to fight again. However, when Benaag succeeded in kidnapping Kat Manx, Cruger's close friend and S.P.D. technical genius, Cruger took up the Morpher she had recently created for him and became the S.P.D. Shadow Ranger. However, he would not always enter battle, preferring to let the S.P.D. Rangers continue to serve and protect unless the threat was dire enough.

Such a threat eventually arrived in the form of the brother criminals Shorty and Devastation, who joined Gruumm's ally Morgana in attacking the Earth. Fortunately, an ally from the future came to join B-Squad in its darkest hour yet: the Omega Ranger. This Ranger from the future, transformed into a ball of light, had been lurking around for some time previously before revealing himself to prevent the defeat of SPD that had occurred in his past. Omega later revealed himself to be an adult version of the Rangers' old friend Sam. The Rangers continued to fight against Gruumm's forces, gaining such weapons as the S.P.D. Battlizer and S.W.A.T. Mode as well as various Zords.

On two occasions the SPD team joined forces with a set of Rangers from another time, but unlike Omega these Rangers were from the past: the Dino Rangers. The first time, Gruumm's arms supplier and underworld contact Broodwing brought Conner McKnight, Kira Ford, and Ethan James to the future in hopes of using them against the SPD Rangers. Their powers briefly restored, however, the Rangers instead teamed up with SPD to defeat Broodwing and Gruumm's combined attack. Later, the SPD team followed Gruumm into the past to prevent him from conquering an earlier version of Earth, and joined forces with all five Dino Rangers to battle him and the cyborg Zeltrax. In both instances the Dino Rangers-with the exception of Tommy Oliver-had their memories of the adventure erased, while the second time the S.P.D. Rangers-minus Omega-also had their memories erased before returning to their own time.

After some time with no contact, the A-Squad Rangers were located in space and returned to Earth, with the B-Squad Rangers fearing that they would be replaced by the returning team. Jack had also come to yearn for another purpose in life, one outside SPD. However, the entire team were soon forced to confront unpleasant reality as the A-Squad Rangers revealed that they were now in the employ of Gruumm, having chosen what they believed to be the winning team. At the same time, Broodwing-who had a falling out with Gruumm due to the Emperor's refusal to pay for the arms supplied by him-set out to destroy SPD himself with an army of criminals and Krybots. The A-Squad and B-Squad Rangers faced off in battle, with the A-Squad Rangers holding the upper hand until B-Squad activated SWAT mode. Meanwhile, aboard Gruumm's ship, a captured Cruger was treated to a startling revelation: his wife Isinia still lived and had been Gruumm's prisoner for a number of years.

A battle between the A-Squad's Megazord and Delta Squad Megazord resulted in the latter's destruction after Broodwing hijacked the Delta Command Megazord. However, the B-Squad Rangers were able to form the S.W.A.T. Megazord and take down their rival Rangers, containing them before preceding to capture all of Broodwing's forces and the villain himself. However, a betrayal by their longtime contact Piggy resulted in B-Squad being imprisoned with Cruger, leaving only Omega Ranger and the SPD cadets to defend Earth from Gruumm's army. To make matters worse, Gruumm's ship soon began to transform into the gigantic monster Omni, the true mastermind behind the Troobians' attempts to take over Earth. Fortunately, Piggy had a change of heart and helped the Rangers escape, allowing B-Squad to return to Earth to prepare for the final battle.

On the surface, the defenders were bolstered by the arrival of Omega's future comrade Nova and several high-ranking SPD officers, including Supreme Commander Fowler "Birdie" and Sergeant Silverback. Meanwhile, Cruger contained Mora-the child form of Morgana-before going to face Gruumm in order to rescue his wife. B-Squad formed the SWAT Megazord again and attacked Omni, finally finding a weak spot that they exploited to destroy it, seemingly at the cost of losing the Crugers. However, Anubis and Isinia survived, and the still-living Emperor Gruumm was defeated and contained in a final brief duel with the Commander. With the crisis abated, Jack left SPD to resume life as a civilian, leaving a vacancy in the team; Omega and Nova also departed in order to return to the future. After learning that the remaining Rangers wished to remain as the B-Squad, Cruger retired the A-Squad moniker and named Sky as the new Red Ranger, with Bridge taking his place as the new Blue Ranger.

Some time afterwards, Commander Birdie retired, and Cruger took his place as Supreme Commander of S.P.D.. As such, Sky took over Cruger's position as Commander of S.P.D. Earth, while Bridge became the Red Ranger. He would later be called back in time by the Sentinel Knight to join a team of Retro Rangers in battling the villain Thrax and his United Alliance of Evil. This would result in a reunion with his old ally Kira-the Yellow Dino Ranger-as well as making new friends with Wind Ranger Tori Hanson, Xander Bly of the Mystic Rangers, and Adam Park of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. This team stood in for the temporarily powerless Operation Overdrive Rangers, and later fought alongside them to defeat Thrax and his allies.

Legendary Rangers on the cliff

The B-Squad Rangers returned as part of the army of Legendary Rangers that helped the Mega Rangers defeat the Armada once and for all, fighting in a huge battle against hundreds of X Borgs and dozens of Bruisers (Considering the various shifts the team has been through over the course of their series, as well as their use of time-travel, it is unclear if this was the B-Squad depicted in the show or a completely new line-up). Split History

Shattered Grid

When events set into motion by Lord Drakkon caused the timeline to split into pocket universe, each anchored on a powerset. The B-Squad Rangers were split off into their own pocket universe. The B-Squad Rangers were in training with the C-Squad cadets when Lord Drakkon and his sentries arrived. The Rangers were hit with the Black Dragon Cannon, depowering them. However, they managed to still hold Drakkon off without him actually getting their morphers. It is yet unclear if the Cannon was able to siphon their powers but Drakkon leaves, promising he won't make the mistake of underestimating the "lesser" Rangers again. Later on, Lord Drakkon has apparently recruited the A-Squad Rangers, alongside other evil Rangers, to his cause. Comicicon COMIC STORY- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Boom! Studios) Issue 27

While Commander Cruger joined Zordon and Ninjor in enlisting Rita Repulsa's aid against Lord Drakkon, the B-Squad Rangers, having had their Morphers reinforced by Doctor K, participated in an advance towards Drakkon's Tower on the Moon in the World of the Coinless, engaging a large army of Ranger Sentries. When the timeline was restored, so were the B-Squad Rangers.
